i dunno if mulch is a good idea for leos cause crix and worms can get into it unless it's like really compacted. also there may be sharp ends that could harm your leo.. i dont really know the properties of cypris mulch though so..

it is compactes and really flexibile and flat edged
alright then, also some 'natural' substrates have chemicals in them that enhance plant fertilization and stuff but could pass on and possible harm a reptile.. check what's in the mulch

I wouldn't use cypress mulch if I were you. There's a risk with any loose substrate that your gecko can swallow and get impacted.
I use artificial turf for my leopard gecko substrate, a guy at a petstore told me that sand is the best thing, you should use sand, I was using sand at the time, but I hate it...it's dusty, messy and a bitch to clean around it....artificial turf is easy, clean, and holds just as much humidity as sand, which is none really, but I mist once or twice a day and I have a humid hidebox for them (which is a small rubbermaid with moist reptibark in it). I also take out my geckos out of their tanks for feeding times.
