How many of my fellow sSNAKESs members would like to start a reptile club here in US and in Canada?
It's a great chance for anyone who is interested in meeting other members of this board and checking out different peoples collections in person. It could happen every 3-6 months a year.
So what do you think?
Sure, sounds like a great idea... however, when you say Canada / US, I personally dont think meetings would work out THAT well ;)

We could have a meeting for members who live in the US and we could do the same for fellow Canadian members as well. Whether it be on the east or west coast of Canada or the US. Members in the US would choose who would host each meeting @ there home and same with Canadian members as well.
Keeping a Reptile club working is not as easy as you might think....but the more you put in the more you get out of it, just like everything else....go for it !!!!!
Sure its not easy to maintain somethin' like it... however, the experience and knowledge and outreach that hits the community plays a vital role in the togetherness of our community... I'd have to add though, if theres a local one in your area, join it!

i would like it too, but i dont think it would work out too well in the US :( .but if u guys are going to try to put it together, hell i would go to the mettings as long as i didnt have to drive like 500 miles to get there lol. but i think if there was one from texas the meetings would consist of me, rachel, and jim (bebo) lol

We could have ones in different regions for US example: Texas could be the Southern sSNAKESs Reptile Club region & New England could be the Northeast sSNAKESs Reptile Club region & California could be the West sSNAKESs Reptile Club region & Kansas could be the mid sSNAKESs Reptile Club region.
Canada example: Quebec could be the East sSNAKESs Reptile Club region & B.C. could be the West sSNAKESs Reptile Club region & Manitoba could be the mid sSNAKESs Reptile Club region

I did buy a family membership to "a certain Alberta-wide reptile club", but they conveniently lost it. Apparently my money went to god use, but my membership just faded into oblivion. I'm not re-buying it, so I'll just wait until next year. I guess it's my fault for not getting a receipt.

Did U ever contact the society about that ????? And if so, what did they say and when did this take place????

Sounds like an okay idea but I really think it would be pretty hard to maintain so many clubs. I also think that there would have to be one in Ontario (probably toronto) since so many people keep herps here. Have you talked to the mods about this?

I bought the membership in April. Many emails went back and forth, and a lot of "I'll talk to so-and-so about it", but in the end, nothing was done. Oh well.

Are you talking about talking to me via e-mail??? I have nothing to do with the membership. I said I would ask for you and no one recieved anything? How did you sign up? I don't think you could have tried too had to see about your membership. No one other than me has ever talked to you. I can't speak for Tammy, but I am pretty sure if you signed up at a show she would have given you a receipt whether you wanted one or not. Did you pay cash or cheque? Not that 20 or 25 is that much to lose, but I know if it happened to me, I would be calling the people in charge instead of whispering it off handedly on a forum.
Just my opinion.

Yes, I am talking about TARAS. I didn't intend for this t turn into a bitching session about the society, but oh well. Greg, I'm not talking about you. I emailed Chris Richardson directly, and he said he would talk to the membership secretary. If he couldn't find my signup, I guess it's just plain gone. And I guess so is my $25. I signed up at the spring show right at the admissions table. I was told "Welcome to the society!" and given a newsletter, and that's it. I don't care though - I'll buy it again next year. But next time I'll write a check or get a receipt. Honestly peeps, it's no big deal to me. I can't prove that I paid for the membership - that's my fault. Other than that, mistakes happen; paperwork gets lost sometimes. *shrug*

Well Chris Richardson is not really the person to talk to either. He seems to forget/lose things and a lot of people can never get a hold of him. Myself or Nett will be in contact with Tammy and will figure it out. Did you give the money to Chris, or did you register with Tammy? Im sure she would recognize you if you registered with her.
Greg West
ps. This isn't really turning into a bitching session, but just not sure why you would chose here to post this instead of calling the membership secretary, or trying someone else. Tammy is a member of this site. Her logon name is Wild Kingdom.

Ok. Thanks you two. :) As for contacting Tammy, I didn't know she was the membership secretary. (I lost the darned newsletter.) And I believe it was Chris who I registered with. I do appreciate the efforts though, Nett, Greg, and Tammy. I hope you find it.
