other than probing or popping, are there any sure ways to sex a bp? i know females are usually bigger than males, but you cant really rely on that as there could be a big male or a small female.
what about spurs near the vent? or do both sexes have them?

There are no sure ways to sex bp's other than probing and poping. You can get pretty good at "guessing" from the visual signs you mentioned but that takes a bit of experience and a good eye or two. ;)

from what i heard you cannot sex a ball python buy looking to see if it has spurs because both sexes have them.

Popping is also very unsafe unless you know what your doing and can seriously harm your snake.
