Why does it seem that I'm always answering your posts...lol
I'm no expert, just a snake lover with a Cal King so make sure to get lots of opinions.
I don't have a climbing branch or anything but my snake likes to climb/try to escape after eating. Maybe this is because I clean his enclosure while he is in a seperate container to eat. The newly cleaned enclosure smells different. Sorry, the point was that he will stretch his way up the side of the tank and occationaly pull himself onto the thin ledge on the inside rim of the tank. This is pretty amazing because the height of the tank is about 80-90% of his body length. This is a good reminder to have an escape proof lid/cage/screen on your enclosure and to alway remember to have it closed unless supervised.
Your snake may not climb on things but they may add to his feeling of security. They act like a hiding spot so that he/she will feel more secure.

thanks big guy lol, i mean mike. I have seen mine do that too, but there is no ledge for him to go on. What type of cal king do you have and how old is yours? Mine is and 8 month old, 15 inch, high white aberrant desert California king snake (damn thats long, lol) i like how he is really white but with a fair bit of black (id say about 70% white) I hope to have some pics soon.
