Enclosure tips

I mentioned in another thread I am thinking about building a custom tank for my two tarantulas. Well actually two enclosures in one.

What would be some key things I should keep in mind for building a cage for two terristrial tarantulas?

Does anyone have some good door ideas, or heating ideas?

For doors I am not sure because they are both fast, and one is willing to come out the door at us once in a blue moon.
