I have been thinking of getting a pair of JCP's for awhile and I would like to get some information on keeping them.

1. What would be a reasonable price for an adult pair (CDN), and a juvenille pair (CDN).
2. What is the best size cage to house an adult (or two if they can be housed together).
3. What sort of temperatures are needed to house them.
4. What sort of things should I look for in picking a JCP.

Thank you in advance to anyone who answers any or all of these questions. If you can think of anything else that would be benificial to know please don't hesitate to include it.

Thanks again,

Steve

1) Adult pairs can be had anywhere from free to $1,000+. Its all about quality when dealing with Jungle Carpets. Babies usually run $175 each for uglies up to $400 each for drop-dead trophy specimens. Again, you get what you pay for. I personaly wouldn't buy adult animals of something I wasn't well-trained in. Its just a rule I have. Plus the pleasure of raising your own babies from little twigs to big-a$$ snakes is just a fun, rewarding experience!!

2) Don't house snakes together, especially Jungles. Its Rule #1 of snake husbandry. Don't do it.

Adult Jungles can live their entire lives in 3x2x1.5 cages. Well, all but the biggest females. Large, old females may require 4x2x1.5, but specimens that large are rare.

3) 88-92F on the warm end (hot spot) and about 80-82F on the cool end. Couple degree drop in temps at night won't hurt. Not needed, but won't hurt. Use a heat pad to achieve this, NOT lights, lamps, or the like.

4) Look at the adults. If you want a NICE snake that can be displayed for YEARS and looks really exotic and just downright awesome, get a Jungle from a GREAT line and you'll never regret it.
