Does anyone out there have brown female xantholophus Jax? The only color they are in pictures is green, and is there any special reason some are brown? (besides the "reds") Is that maybe a juvenile color phase?

could just be stressed out...
My female is 7 months old - sometimes she will have tinges of green, but most of the time she is a pale brown (dark when stressed). I have seen pictures of adult xants that are mainly brown and ones that are green.
She's about 12 cm snout to vent in length.

Just curious ... have you hatched out any quads?

Per the above - just wondering on the coloring of the Jax, I have a few brown females, and several greens - only one brown is red phase though...interesting. perhaps brown is red phase - minus the red...
Jaylyn, have not hatched out any Quads yet this year, I cant get my best male to recognise the white female as a breedable female - and there is no use trying a less than immaculate male with her - she is just too unusual. If I can figure out how, I will post a pic of her. FYI I also am breeding C.Calyptratus (who isnt!?) and B.Fischeri Multituberculatus...got them little eggs incubating away....These are SO CUTE!!! They are not nearly as spectacular as other species, but my god, are they ever cute! They have a lot of personality too. I LOVE them. It is too bad they are just short of impossible to find anymore.
What are you raising ?(besides kids :D )

We have a pair of veileds and a pair of Jackson's (for now ;) )
I do have my heart set on hoehnelli, quads and brevs, though!
We also have bearded dragons (too many some days :p ), redfoot tortoises, a leopard gecko and a roundtail horned lizard.
I can't wait see see those pics!

I too, have my heart set on hoehnelii, followed by merumontanus Jax, carpets, gracilis, weidersheims, and hopefully some day we will be able to get antimena., willsii and minors.
As for pics of the white quad, I posted them on kingsnake's chameleon forum...and their photo gallery - perhaps you could go see her there? I also posted a pic of my old Veiled...I couldnt help myself!
If you see them, let me know what you think!

HA! That is what is so great about this! I already have the perfect guy! Lucky me, bought him pretty cheap off some guy who just happened to get him in a shipment, was taken care of wonderfully, he arrived in excellent shape, and had just begun to show his colors (6 mos?) I dont know, he is WC - he is FANTASTIC~
If he wasnt so shy he'd be perfect. He is fairly large, and has huge white swaths on his back and a stripe thru his belly, the middle section is dark maroon, his head is almost solid blue and he has gigantic blue scales speckled thru his body. He really is spectacular. He looks like a CB animal, he is in such good shape and so well adjusted a (i've had him a few months)He has the really large, googley eyes that I love on them so much. There is nothing uglier than a cham w/ small eyes. The bigger and buggier the eyes, the more I like them! SOmeday when I can get a decent picture of him, I'll post it...if ever he comes around. He is truly beautiful - I wish you could see him in person!
Boy, have we got off topic or what!! Oh, I figured out what the problem is w/ my black Jax, they were pissed at having a larger female in the cage - got her moved out, now they are green and happy! ANd the brown one is a red phase, and I am fairly sure she is gravid, not very far along, but she sure is acting like it. SHe basks individual sides of her body, is absolutely ravenous, getting suspiciously fat, and is really unhappy when the male comes near her. Has also started to be heavily patterned... what do you think? I havent had a gravid one before.... it is fun to do something I havent done before...almost feels like being a newbie again! Except I know how to take care of them..
Leah:D
I just might have to take a trip ... LOL I'm the same with the eyes - hydrate them till their eyes pop out!! He sounds beautiful - maybe he just has some more maturing to do?? Or he doesn't recognize her as a quad??? You could try sewing some little dresses ... LOL... maybe paint her??? I don't know!! Hopefully he's just a little immature right now! With most males - any girl will do!
That's exciting about the jax!! I'm glad you figured out the problem with the smaller jax. I know what you mean about having the new species - it is exciting - it's nice to have the differences between them - keeps you on your toes!
