That's a stupidly nice snake!!! :p

Some locales of cavers keep the yellow on their dorsal stripe, eh?

Thanks, guys!
Yes, Katt; Apparently ones from the Cameron Highlands locale do tend to retain the yellow stripe.

Okay...Here's my male.

Although he may not look it in the pic, this fellow is well over eight feet in length, and more even-tempered than a Corn Snake.

Fantastic Simon, I can't wait to get my own!

Cavers are now Orthriophis, no??

Simon R. Sansom

I guess you can call them that if you want to. Apparently there may be grounds for someone to challenge the "new" classification.

I'll stick with "Elaphe" for now,(Old habits die hard) LOL! .

I'm all for the new classification. I've seen some "challenging" posts regarding the new genus. My feeling is that my corn is no way related to my beauties and I just can't stand the thought of both having the same genus when I can breed corn to kings, but not beauties to corns.

Hi Katt;

I'll let the taxonomists fight it out.

Hi ranmasatome,

Thank you very much for the kind comments.

They are beautiful animals, aren't they?

On the Rat Snake Forum on the "competing" web-site, there are some recent pics of ridleyi "in situ". Very interesting indeed.

Cheers!

Thanks. They seem to run around $300.00 U.S. each.
I think I read somewhere that they can possibly reach ten feet in length!

Cheers!

Cavers are coming down in price however. This year at the Daytona show, I saw them at $175 US. However most were $200USD, and this mostly for males, pairs run about $500USD. I think they'll stay around that price for a bit.

I love snakes and find them to be interesting creatures and very intelligent. But I dont ever think I could handle watching one eat. LoL From the pics alone i get grossed out. I know the snake has to eat , I just wouldnt watch it eat (or takes pics then) if I had one of my own. :)
