View Full Version : rat racks
I wanted to know if there were anyone in ontario that was building and selling metal rodent rack(perferable expanded metal) or even wood ones with pans, hoppers? I'm trying to price some out right now since I don't really want to build my own right now because time is tight.
Also is the jumbo kitty liter pan approx. 22x16x7 the same size as the XL kitty litter pans and what are te prices on them in the GTA. The cheapest I found was 12.99 I believe.
Any help would be great.
I think Christina and Jayson have been building rat racks. you might talk to them. I have an idea for racks, but not using expanded metal.
I built some of my own with the cat litter pans. Cat litter pans $7.99 if i buy in bulk of 50 min. I usually buy 10 at a time for $10.99. These are poor choice for a drawer design because the plastic is to flexable and the lip is to narrow on the edges also they are rounded on all sides. But they work excellent it you just build lids and put them on a shelf (which is what i did with them) I used 1-1/2" angle iron or bed iron and 5/8" stretched steel. the holes in the top are perfect size that i just put the food on the top and the rats can pull it through when they want. I bought the watering system from ag select. rack systems are to much work and money and hard to find cheap bins for. my bins cost me $600 per 25 bins built myself< thats about $24 per bin. with all the time of cutting and welding your probably looking at double that price at least.
Thanks for the help. I wax worrie about flexing so I guess i'll take another look around for stiffer ones. You would have any pictures of the bin would you?

Are wooden cages appropriate for rodents??...
They will behold urinates and they will stink with no luck of cleaning them ever.

Rodents can easily chew through wood.
