well.............. not ANYONE ;)

This has been an incredible year for Copperheads more have been brought by than any year I can remember. Time to thin out the ranks a bit. I got 6 right now that need homes with responsible and experienced keepers. 2 subadult cottons as well (one conanti and one piscovorus). Just thought I would throw it out and see if any of the veteran hot keepers wanted them before I start calling DNR and Nature Centers.

As a matter of fact, if you have a male pink southern, we could use him. Ours is on his last legs…well, maybe not legs…but you know what I mean. =)

Hi Brian,

My Vet (Dr. Reed) is looking for a pair of Copperheads and he also needs a 1 cotton. Not sure what sex he needs. He is out of town for the week, he went to Mexico on vacation and to look for some new herps. When he gets back I will see what sex cotton he needs.

Are you selling them or just trying to find a good home for them?
My Vet is very experienced with hots.

E-mail me and let me know the info on them.
If you have any picture can you e-mail them to me please.

Thanks,
Tom McCarthy

I want a copperhead, but am in no way what so ever ready to keep one, I've read about them and seen them at the zoo, but I don't know of anyone in my area that keeps hots, do any of you guys know anyone in Cali that has hots? I am not a little kid, but know that I do not have the experince or knowledge that it takes to keep these snakes. It wouldn't be any time in the near future either, plus I think I'd need a permit first. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Thanks Brian,

I think it is a male cotton he needs. I will make sure when he gets back.
He told me to get him one when I was in Tennessee in August but I told him he would
have to sex it. LOL Never did find one when I was down there. :o( I know he really wants some copperheads. I have also been looking for a Massasauga Rattlesnake for him. There are a few spot by me where you can still find them. So far all I have found are dead ones on the road. :o( One was even gravid that really sucked.

Take care,
Tom

You in the ATL area right? If Chuck gets one of those high priced things I'll probably ride down with him to meet you. Still not going to Columbia??

BWSmith
09-08-03, 07:10 PM
Nope, still can't make it to Columbia. First year in a LONG time that I will be missing it. Oh well, I am actually thinning out my population right now, I don't need to go to Columbia and increase it LOL

Well, add 14 more bay Coppers to the list. One of the females that I was getting rid of dropped 14 babies and 1 unfertalized egg. Although I think a couple are keepers. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.
