I got a pair of ball pythons last week & I have yet to name them... all my others, names have just come easily & seem to suit..... these are proving more difficult cuz I want to name them as a couple!!!

I would like to go with matching names of a girl & guy you would always think of together.... i've gotten some really good suggestions so far but wondered about your opinions on naming your animals. I know alot of keepers name a few, but after getting so many they just keep track of M/F stats!

So far, I think i'm deciding between Mark & cleopatra (cleo for short) or Hansel & Gretal (i'm a sucker for german names).

My other snakes are: Amy, Gwen, Jasmine, Zeul
Lizards are: Fluffy, "the new one" even though we've had him for 4 months, and Trogdor (the burninator)

What are some of the names you have for your reptiles?

Sometimes I named them. Some of the names of my snakes are: Moka, Cartman, Lestat, Luke and Duke but the other ones are names by the number I receive them (species +number 1,2,3 ex. ball python 1, ball 2)

My BP I named Shriek . My five Leos are Jake,Jules, Opal, Topaz and Pearl. I have two unnamed Frogeye geckos. My collection had gone down over the years but is slowly coming back up.
Shriek is a real misnomer seeing as he's as passive as can be unless you happen to be on the menu that is :D

jessikaowl, I think Hansel and Gretal are great names for a pair. Or if your a Sex Pistols fan, Sid and Nancy. Other than that I'm drawing a blank. I have a male bearded dragon named Smaug (smog), named after the dragon in The Hobbit, and a female bp named Pia (it just seemed to suit her), and an as yet unamed female helmeted iquana.

Between RedDragon posting this, and me jumping on the forums, we've decided on names for the 2 Sinaloan milks and 1 albino king we picked up today. The Albino CalKing is Merlin, and the Milks are Arthur and Guenevere. (pics coming soon of course.)

I wasn't sure how to vote here. The thing is that all of our snakes have names but I didn't name any of them myself. With the exception of "Tonto", the Great Plains Rat snake who had that name when we got him, our daughter has named them all. She was about 4 when we got started. Some names have some influence or reasoning behind them and others she has just simply invented after being discouraged from naming them after relatives. Here's our small but ever-growing collection

- Red Corn (Amik)
- Northern Pine (Alex)
- Great Plains Rat (Tonto)
- Eastern King (Nightstalker) I've nicknamed him "Manson" though because he is nuts and wants to kill me
- 50/50 Cal King (Beetlegeuse) this one we suggested
- BCI (Swedish)
- Female BP (Miranda) used to be "Martin" until we had her sexed
- Male BP (Martin) guess she likes that name

They're sort of funny names but we like getting our daughter involved with the animals. We thought letting her name them would be a good way of including her until she's old enough to do some of the chores. She's now able to help with feedings and holding them while I do cleanings.
