Has anyone seen the 7 Deadly Strikes movie, personally I found it entertaining aswell as educational. If you haven t seen it, it s about venemous snakes in Africa. Please leave your comments if you have seen this movie and if not feel free to ask questions about it!

I saw that thing, I laughed my *** off at that moron. He starts by saying that he was SURE he would not get bitten. Out of 7 snakes this tool gets bitten twice. As with most bite victims it was TOTALLY and completely his fault, just provoking these things. There were certainly some cool snakes, like the Giboon Viper he dives into a pond after but the most amazing thing in this video is that this dumb MF lives.

that was a good show. he got tagged by a snouted cobra and a peringuey's adder... lol thats what happens when you try to get pictures of them striking at you DUHHHHHHH:medtoothy
I've seen it. The dude is insane. I laughed my *** off when he Tarzan swung into the water after the gabby. He did get one hell of a reality check when he got tagged by the cobra though.

IMHO..
I saw this show a while back.. Pretty entertaining, I'd watch it again and again..
From what I know, Austin Stevens is a herpetologist with who knows how many years of experience with venomous under his belt.. So I commend him for what he does and making a good tv show..
The idiocies which caught me are as follows..
- It's very idiotic to jump into a river knowing that there's a Gaboon RIGHT WHERE YOU'RE JUMPING and being well within striking distance.. But let's consider what he knows.. Maybe it's true that Gaboons aren't prone to striking while swimming in open water, who knows, I don't.. Maybe he had spent some time getting things right before the cameramen commited their footage.. Nevertheless, that was pretty f***ing stupid..
- I think it's too idiotic to have a Boomslang free roaming around your body.. Period..
- I think it's idiotic to play "pattycake" with an irritated wild cobra.. And he paid for it..
Other than that, everything else was pretty much Steve Irwin-esque..
He got "bit" twice out of 7 different close encounters with 7 different venomous snakes in the wild and lived.. W, T, F.. To me, that in itself is not idiocy, that's just the nature of the game..
His rating system was eh eh.. eh.. I didn't like it..
And lastly he got away with some awesome photos..
Having watched the show doesn't motivate me any more than I already am about keeping venomous snakes or looking for wild specimens.. It's just not a practical thing for me to do and I have no purpose to do so.. I actually appreciate people like Austin Stevens and his counterparts.. Because if it wasn't for them, I couldn't have an experience with venomous snakes.. Considering their experience and knowledge, better them than my piddly arse.. And even if my experience with venomous snakes is limited to what I see on television, that's fine with me..:D

Oh ya, NICE pics and I agree, better that dumb MF than me getting bitten for them. As for his "experience" if you wanna call it that, he was talking about being bitten by another Gabby just before he jumped on the one in the show. I mean, what good is experience if you don't learn F A? He shows us 2 bites, speaks of another and Lord only knows how many others he's had. I guess how many times you're envenomated doesn't matter near as much as how many more times you can get away with it. This fool's trying to get himself killed and if we're all lucky they'll air that on Animal Planet too. Say what you want about Irwin, at least that weird ******* doesn't get himself killed trying to show a snake.

i think if Steve was bitten he wouldn't air it.
and as for the guy in the video, lol. i hope that guy only acts like a dumb *** for the camera. because when your talking life and death 2 out of 7 is RELAY BAD. in my option Steve Irwin practices safer handling techniques. i am not going to question his knowledge or experience, but i relay hope he uses a hook outside of TV. if i had been bit my a gabby the next time i saw one i would handle it with a 105 inch python hook, lol

7 Deadly Strikes was a one hour special on Animal Planet. I found it severely lacking in any educational value except how to get envenomated. He is an idiot. Let's just hope he hasn't bred. Overall I give it a 1 out of 10 (and the one point goes to the snakes).

LOL, i saw that show, the guy had a funny accent, i was literally laughing my @$$ off when i saw him get bit by the viper yah LOL I knew that wuz gonna happen!!! Also, i dont think its very educational (a guy touching hots with his bare hands in front of who knows how many kids... hmmmm.) Also, i didnt see it on animal planet, i saw it on discovery channel (here in canada, you have to order animal planet)
Thanks,

I guess I am in the minority, I found nothing ammusing about his tactics or the bites.

There is no doubt in my mind that free handling hots is a really bad idea but saying that someone will free handle cause they saw someone on TV is ridiculous. If anyone can think of something they haven't seen done on TV or in a movie, I'd like to know. How come watching bob villa isn't making kids around the world install counter tops? People will decide what they want to do on their own. If anything, children that weren't aware that a certain snake being venomous, now know. I'm sure the kid that would have grabbed it, might think twice now. Don't get me wrong; if he used the proper equipment and didn't swing into a pond after a Gaboon, it would still be as interesting to watch. Unfortunately this kind of stuff (Croc Hunter, this guy, that other guy with the beard lol, etc...)is the only publicity out there for our hobby. Most of us never had programs like this when we were young and we still made our way into the hobby. There has to be some kids out there who see the positive side of what they're doing and understand that these people are professionals. Children will continue to pick up things that are dangerous to them. If a parent is worried that there child might pick up a deadly snake it is there responsibility to teach them about the local deadly snakes and how to deal with it if they come in contact. It seems ridiculous to think it’s the responsibility of the television.

Given the ever increasing presence of television, and decreasing presence of parents...
Regarding Countertops: no, watching Bob Vila install countertops isn't going to make kids want to do that. But what about if he started tagging Norm Abrams with the nail gun?

LOL!@BP! My kid re-shingled our neighbors roof the other day because of that Vila jerk hahaha.
Rev,
While I agree that there is a decreasing presence of parents that fact cannot be blamed on Steve Irwin. If you want to blame someone for that blame the increasing greed of corporations that take 2 income households for granted when portioning out wages. It is truly sad that children these days see more television than parents but that does not shift the responsibilities of teaching children right from wrong or safe from dangerous from the parents to Steve Irwin or Steven Speilberg or Eminem. I wouldn't want any of them to have that responsibility for my kid anyway. Who wouldn't want to turn the nail gun on Norm Abrahms though? Or Bob himself for that matter? hahaha that show sucks

I didn't for a moment mean it wasn't the parent's responsibility. I take my son (almost 6) field herping with me (and with BW Smith at that...). But we drill for weeks ahead of time on protocol, procedure, and behavior in the woods. He knows the rules and knows better than to break them. And despite being required to be last in line, the little monkey somehow always manages to find something before us. Do I let him watch Croc Hunter? Not on your life. No cable at all, for that matter, but that's an entirely different issue...
And yes, I'd love to turn the nail gun on Norm or Bob. And don't get me started on that Trading Spaces chick...I'd nail her good :P
I'd nail her good :P
I hope your talking about with the nailgun :D :p

Ahh yes Trading Spaces where you can bring the excitement of watching paint dry (literally) home on your TV.
So you don't let your son watch Croc Hunter because you don't want him to imitating him in the field? I can see the logic in that if your son is in frequent contact or close proximity to venomous snakes. Not much of an issue up here in Canada haha. We have one surviving venomous species I believe and they are very localized and near impossible to find.
I, personally, thought it was disturbing. He sure gives people the wrong idea about handling venomous snakes. From what one can expect from the airing of this program is "lots of inexperianced " wildlife photographers pushing their luck getting that great shot of venomous snakes.....too bad so sad for any advancement of understanding in the venomous snake public image....it seems that just when some progress is made some,"dink", puts it back ten steps...
