Does anyone know if chams are susceptible to excess calcium? I have read that they will only absorb what they need, and I have also read they absorb it all (making it possible to have excess) - my vet doesnt know about chams specifically in this matter, so around we go-
Is it *possible* to over supplement calcium?

I'm not sure in chams either, Leah. With the torts, I have read that it can cause hardening of organs .... Time for more digging LOL !!

Leah,
From all I've read and been told lately - the answer is yes (especially with overuse of Vit. D3).

Quick call the vet today confirms this is true, although I have frequently read otherwise.
He said excess calcium is a common problem in older reptiles as the Ca has had time to build up and cause problems. Among them kidney failure. Only diagnosis, of course, is a blood panel confirming such.
