Our first corn hatchling is out of the egg tonight - these eggs were a bonus of 19 eggs from a striped female corn we got this summer - we weren't planning on hatching corns this year - but they are pretty cute anyway. The incubator design is Jeff Favelle's - no media - incubated at virtually 100% humidity and average of 82 degrees. They pipped on day 60. So far looks like all are normals - had to get one picture -

just wondering, how do you keep the humidity @ 100% ?

The container that the eggs are in has vermiculte on the bottom, eggs on a peice of crate material, few holes in a clear plastic top that is clamped on. The whole egg container is in a Thermos insulated cooler that holds a large water container with an aquarium heater in it. The heater maintains the temp and in doing so evaporates the water giving very high humidity in the cooler as well as the egg container.

We monitored humidity with a digital unit over the course of incubation and it was between 98 and off the scale every time we checked - but we really tried not to look too often and the lid with only a few holes on the egg box kept the humidity stable in there even when we opened the cooler.

Jeff Favelle suggested the design and he told me gets all the credit (but I am not allowed to blame him for anything that went wrong!). I am going to build one on a larger scale for next year, but this and one honduran clutch were our first incubation experience,

thats basically what I incubate my eggs in too.
I do the same thing, fill a rubbermaide with water and use aquaium heaters to heat the water and let teh water evaporate to create the humidity.

But Mine is on a much bigger scale since I can incubate around 24 clutches of eggs in one incubator....hahahah and I have two of those incubators (well actually to be exact I have 6 of them.....2 in London, 2 in Toronto, 2 in Vancouver...hahah)

great job and nice looking eggs and babies there!!!

Congrats!!
