Butt wiggling

Why do leos do this right before they catch a cricket? What's the purpose of this? My little baby wiggles the tip of her tail like mad the second before a catch, and the adults I used to own did it too.

Is it just excitement?

My patternless het albino use to do it but then he stopped after a while. I dont really know why they do it, yes maybe from excitement

one of my old baby leopard shook his tail so much it would shake his WHOLE body around. dont know why they do it but it looks awsome. I would bet its from excitment.

mine do this also. same with the corns. It really looks funny.

yeah mine used to do it, i reckon its from excitement, because mine only did it now and again, then stopped for a while, then started again, little freaks i tell ya...

My male did it as he was young but now he doesn't seem to care about tail wiggling anymore!!! :D:D
My female do it when she is eating and when I clean her cage.

maybe its a deffence technique? Or maybe the use it like some snakes to try and leur (sp?) the prey in..even though its crix or mealworms that arnt smart enough to go for it...???

Well mine haven't really used it like a lure...lol....they only do it when they are already stocking the prey and the second before they would catch it. Almost like a cat when its on its belly about to pounce....some wiggle their butts.

I think excitement but wanted to hear what other thoughts are. Who knows what it could really be! lol

my kitten does that whaen she is chasing a toy mouse, or somthing like that, i bet its just 'fun' for them.

to distract prey probably

my leos used to do this every time but they got accustomed to knowing theres always gonna be food around and stopped.. however, if the crickest are exceptionally fast or jumpy, my guy will always vibrate his tail

The guy at my local petstore said they do this to distract tha crix. So the crix focus on the tail not the head. I don't know if this is true but kind of makes sense??

well manu gecko those that, I got leo and fat tail
leo just swing their tails right to left but fat tail gecko are nice :P
they get their tail straight up in the air, and wiggle the end of it
like so a pray would like to look a 2 inch higher than the gecko's
mouth.
