Kaehne (for once! lol) decided to hide his head when I opened up his tub last night, so I finally managed to get some new pics without being in danger of having my hand bitten off ;) So here they are!

Chowing down on the rat that I gave him to distract him while I cleaned his cage... lol...

Thanks guys! :)
Thankfully, he hasn't gotten me yet -- it's only a matter of time I'm sure though... lol. My only bite so far has come from my IJCP ;)
Mike, he's just turned a year old... I was told that he's a Biak, but he doesn't look much like one... lol. So I don't know if he really is...
wonderfull snake... cant wait till mine turns green
Awesome snake! They're #1 on my list of snakes to get! I just have to save up some money :) Can't wait though, seeing these picutres makes me want one even more!
Jen,
Boy has he changed! The blue is going to end up nice, thats for sure....and nope, doesn't look like a Biak to me either. Looks more like a Highland animal to me. But either way, its gonna end up one nice adult!
great shots Jen. He's really turning nice colours?
Biaks are just about the only locality that you can usually tell that they are indeed Biaks.
and like Sony said, thats probably not a biak....but the blue in him look amazing, congrats!
Really turning out to be a beauty! :D
Wow I remember when you posted the photos when you didnt' have him yet, and when you first gotten him. It's nice that you have shown the entire change. Amazing looking now! He has a cute face too! Looks like a trouble maker!

I'm no expert but it looks to be a Sorong to me.

Thanks guys! :D
Ikke -- that's what I thought too -- I miss my orange baby... hehe :) He's still awesome though :)
Sony -- no kidding, he's definitely changed! Hard to believe he's even the same snake... he's grown a TONNE since I got him too (in addition to changing colour)... never refuses a meal, even when he's in shed :) He's packing down decent sized rat pups now...
Matt -- yeah, he doesn't really look like a Biak at all now that he's changed... although he does have the temperament of one -- LOL :) Plus he changed colour within the course of a couple of days pretty much (although the colours are still intensifying), and Biaks are notorious for taking a long time to complete their colour change... Whatever he is though, I'm happy with how he's turning out :) Gotta love that blue!
Marisa -- he definitely is that! LOL...quite the little terror my Kaehne is... I love him anyways though, even if he would just as soon try to eat me as let me near him... lol... guess nobody ever taught him not to bite the hand that feeds him ;) Although I wouldn't even dream of feeding him with anything shorter than my 24" hemostats... lol...
Thanks again guys! :D I'll keep the pics coming as time (and Kaehne ;)) allows...

Great pics and gorgeous snake, it's always good to see them eating well. I've heard alot of these bite, is that just their nature or is a rumor? Forgive me for the dumb question I am just more familiar with Kings, corns, balls. ;)
I think there are real bites and feeding bites. Actually last night, my arms looked like something took half of it off. I had to pick up a female and make sure that there weren't any retained eggs or anything in her. She didnt care for that one bit. In the matter of like 10 minutes, I must have gotten bit 7 or 8 times, and she's a big female, about 1000 grams, and that hurt like hell.
Sony, do you know what the weight is for a female GTP to be ready to breed.
thanks man

Yeah Chris, I'd have to agree -- that's kinda what he's looking like... which is cool too :)
Aym -- Most GTPs tend to be a bit on the aggressive side -- some are worse than others. Some are downright nasty, and some are fairly mild mannered... although even with those ones it's generally not a good idea to disturb them at night, when they're in "hunt mode"...
Kaehne is one that's more on the aggressive side of the scale at this point ;) I'm hoping he might calm down a bit, but only time will tell...
Matt,
As far as breeding weights for females go, I have mixed thoughts. While everyone says to wait a minimum of about 3 yrs old and at least 1000 grams, I'm not sure if I agree with that 100 percent. I really don't think that in the wild, many of these females will get 1,200-2,500 grams like some of the c.b.b. ones that I have seen. And even if they did, I think it'd take them many many years to get that weight. I will suggest that when you do get ready to cycle them, make sure they weigh at least 850 grams or so. Of the females that I am going to cycle, I have a couple that are right around 900 grams. I think ppl suggest the 1,000 gram weight just so that you have a better chance at having a larger clutch, and at the same time, making sure that they have the weight necessary to sustain them through their 52 day fast.
;) thanks man, good to know
i just assumed my female was big enough, but havent got around to weighing her just yet. I will do that before i cycle !!!

Thanks Don ;) While I don't object to being called "man", "girl" would be more appropriate *grin*.
I know how you feel! I wanted one soooooo bad before I got one... and now I want more soooooo bad. LOL... But no, Kaehne doesn't get along well with anyone, myself included ;) Definitely a display animal... lol...
