I have an eastern collared lizard, and for the past while he has only been eating mealworms, i have offered him crickets a couple times and he just doesn't wanna eat them. I gave him crickets again a couple days ago, and i havent seen him eat any, he seems to be gettin skinnier by the day. Amny1 got suggestions on how to get him back on crickets?

Iwould say just try to wiggle the crickets infront of his face with tweezers. Thats what i had to do with my leopard geckos when they were babies, it worked fine for me, so best of luck to you!

if he eats non moving food you could try putting some live mealworms and dead crix in a bowl and he will probably just munch out on the meal worms and will take some crix in the process..just a thought..good luck with him/her

Don't give him a choice, if he always has both food items available he's going to choose the one he prefers. With hold the meallies for a couple of days, when he gets hungry enough he should go for the crix.

Is it catcht in the wild? Then it have maby stress. My collared lizards are very relaxts and are crazy on Crickets, then don't like mealworm so much but they eat them as well.

My lizard are bred in captivity and have no problems.
Maby he misses his freedom

Has he been checked for parasites? Sometimes lizards with a fairly heavy infestation refuse to chase fast-moving prey like crix and stick to ones that are less effort to catch. A lot of folks know that parasites are back when their herps start refusing crickets.
