View Full Version : Introducton Atrocities?!
I was just wondering if any of yall have ever seen any really bad things happen when you have placed a male and female together for breeding?
No I haven't, but have heard horror stories
havent introduced my pair yet
I'll let ya know how it goes when i do sony
*my fingers are crossed*
When do you plan on introducing them? I have 4 females Im going to try with males. just hoping something crazy doesnt happen. A good friend of mine introduced a nice c.b.b. female with a w.c. male, and it was a bloodbath. The female was about 4x the size of the male, but the male just tore that girl up.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
well, that doesnt sound too encouraging. Not trying mine for a while (mid-end winter...probably around jan-feb)
only advice i have: keep a close eye.....stay in the room while they get used to each other, and watch very carefully
thats all i know!

Hey Sony,
What pairing do you have planed, eh. You you know hiding things from your friends is really uncooth;)!
What is the size of the airvents on your PA enclosures? I was thinking of putting a simple pass thru on my adult enclsoures (still waiting for those pics btw). Any who, since they are sort of in the middle (if they are big enough) you could just pop off those a vent and use that as a temp pass thru. That migh give you some forsite too the awating "blood bagh" and perhapps solve some problems of an overly agressive fe/male.
If your friend introduced the female to the males enclosure I could definaly see why it would be a blood bath, given how territorial males are.
Yeah I plan on keeping a close eye on the pairings, and I also want to do it on a saturday afternoon or something so I can see what is going on.
Julian, Im not keeping anything from my friends!*LOL* Here's what I've got planned.
1. OS high yellow line female x Webb yellow male
2. Another OS high yellow line female x Hudson very very high yellow male
3. Houston Zoo stock female x either blue Morris male or Webb animal
4. Jeff Hudson yellow line male x Sarong
I still haven't had a chance to take pics, that is why you don't have em yet Julian. The airholes are i think 1/8th inch holes that 3 1/2 inches in diameter. One on each side of the cage, halfway up the cages. The pass through is a good idea I think, but I don't think I'm going to try that.
And the male was introduced into the females cage, not the other way around.
