Well if you have been following "Red-eye_Matt"s post about the tadpoles then this is our newest update.

We recounted our little froggies the other day (almost all of them have no tails now) and we counted more then we had before....which is kinda funny considering we moved this weekend and they were splashed and bumbed around during the car ride....I guess we counted wrong somewhere along the way....must of missed a couple.

Either way this is our newest problem....with so many we can't think of a way to afford to feed them.....crickets and fruit flies are hard to come by around here and I think they're starting to get hungry....REAL hungry. I was just wondering what everyone else does to feed so many little frogs?

We're trying to breed our own crickets but it's taking a while and we need some food really soon.

Thanks for your advice ahead of time.

We'll keep you posted and get some pics up soon.

Only thing I can think of is to buy some fruit flies online... right away... shouldn't take more than a day or 2 to get to your house depending on where you live.

As sick as this sounds why not put a bowl of rotting fruit in or near the enclosure? Fruit flies will start on their own won't they?

We put some fresh banana in the tank last night....hopefully in the next day or two we'll collect some. (Though I don't think we'll know if any fruit flies are there or not...cause the frogs are climbing the walls and sleeping near the lid of the tank....they'll probably just get the bugs as soon as they fly in through the screen.) Sometimes I forget that it's our firebellies that had babies and not our Red eye tree frogs....they're sooo cute.

They're way to small to sell right now to the pet stores....considering they are about the size of my pinky nail.....some smaller....and when we bought ours they were close to adult size.

Well we decided to get 200 crickets last night to start off.....hopefully that could last a few days..not all of the frogs have lost their tails yet so some of them aren't eating.

Have you thought of trying a bait shop ? There is lots around with all our fishermen here. If nothing else you should be able to get reasonably priced worms there. Just a thought. Dar.

Hmmm...that might be an idea...somethig we never thought of, though I'm not quite sure if the food would be small enough...but it doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks Dar

I'm not sure if it's ok for where you live but If it's not to cold outside, put them outside in the night. Put a small lamp in their enclosure to keep the temprature ok. The lamp will attract various insect. The 5 FBT that I have were raise this way.

Don't be surprise to see 10-20 little frogs attack a big night butterlfy!!!!

Keep us posted!!

I know wich size are the frog when they just drop their tail and they are way to small to sell!! You should wait at least 1-2 months
