Blue Cayman Iguana

A friend of mine just aquired one of these, and all I can find in regards to it are about conservation, not care, does anyone know anything about it? I know they are extremely endangered. Thanks for any help.

Hmmm, seems you guys know about as much as I do, well, I found out that there are between 10 and 25 left in the wild, and I took the lizard last night, and I am currently trying to place him in a recovery program. Apparently, it is the rarest iguana, and one of the rarest reptiles in the world.

wow, 10-25 in the wild!? How did he manage to get one in captivity?

It's probably one of the hybrids that are being bred, a lewisi/caymanensis cross. Those are available in the pet trade, usually from David Blair's excellent breeding program. See www.herpnut.com for more info.

I will be taking tons of pics in the days to come, and will post ASAP, as I have no digi, I will have to scan.
Eyespy, I have found many pics of the genuine caymans, and there is no doubt in my mind that that is what I now have. The people I got him from leave no doubt in my mind that that is what this is. (don't ask, theyre not poachers or anything, but well, nevermind) He is appx 3 years old. I contacted a breeding program in TX, and they said they didn't want him/her, as they couldn't verify bloodlines, etc... But, I found a local zoo that has an excellent reptile exhibit, and they want him. So he will get a nice big habitat, and I will still be able to go see him.

An update in case anyone wants;
I got ahold of a breeder that would take him, and she specializes in exotic iggys, and is familiar with their specialized diets. So he will be off to Connecticut in a couple of days, but not before I get to take lots of pics.

Gah, it is a hybrid, but still apparently quite rare, but, whatever. I did find a good home for it, a little closer to home, which is good, since I am really not to familiar with iggys, and I don't really want one. So, case closed, for anyone that was curiouse.
