the 24 pounder is the only 1 i remember it was 35"
Sounds pretty neat...I do a lot of deep sea/big game saltwater fishing here in South Carolina...my biggest fish would have to be a 315lb Bluefin (caught in North Carolina) or...a 12ft blue shark...had to cut him loose due to certain regulations but we ran rope from head to tail of this beast and it was 11ft 9inches...took me 3 and a half hours...

Those are some pretty big salmon.
i love salmon fishing, but i like bottom fishing for halibut better.
i go out to vancouver island almost every year to fishing and visit family.
a couple years ago i caught a 106 pound halibut, it was awesome.
When I first moved to Florida I went tarpon fishing. It was by far the most work I ever had to put into catching a fish. I'd really like to give salmon fishing a try. Congrats on your catches.

Salmon fishing is a thrill... you never know what you are going to pull in!!
We went last year and landed a 17 pounder and a 19 pounder... I was all proud of myself for catching a 17 pound fish and the captain told me its just a teenager compared to most that are caught... kinda ruined my moment but it was still a good time (got me a good dose of sunstroke though... ugh)
fishing on the lake for Salmon is good fun, but if you want to really experience the fight of a salmon, get in the river mid september early october. Nothing beats the sound of your reel screaming as a 20-30lb salmon makes a long run up the river.. I know i'll be in the river in another 2 weeks :D
I agree with matt being from Alantic salmon country nothing beats having a wild salmon take a fly and strip your reel to the last couple feet of backing It is more than well worth the 1000 casts or more before you hook one and it is rewarding to release that salmon so it can spawn and continue the cycle of life.

the 245 pounder dewfinetly stripped line. when he hit there was only 90 ft. of line out well i ended up reeeling in 500ft. of line
Nice catches. I was out at lake ontario yesterday, and I saw a guy walking down with a 3 foot long pike...I was like HOLY ****!
Biggest pike i've ever seen. Must have put up one hell of a fight...So now on my to-do list for this weekend i have to add fishing :D

Not a prob Matt I am hooked on the salmon in thr Ganyyyyy I got 1 that was 46pounds in the gany and it took 1 hour to land I had a blast
I fish the Ganaraska a fair bit... gimme a shout fellas... maybe we can meet up... I also run up north to this really secret and special place for pinks... awesome fishing... but its my dirty little secret ;)
matt_mcco: Im just wondering where you caught that Pike.. And what you did with it.. I'd be really curious.. 40+ inch pike are few and far between and are considered like the holy grail of pike in Ontario.. I hope you registered it, you'd be considered a 'Master Angler'
LOL Mike. Your secret eh?? Keep it that way bro.. Honestly, giving out fishing spots is killing the waters.. We have a place we used to go and get 4lb+ smallmouth bass every cast (catch and release), slowly more and more people started going there, now you're lucky to even catch anything over 1lb. We've seen people going into the river in Early June (Season opens end of June) and come out with 6-7 nice sized Smallmouth.. They have no regard for the species anymore..

CRAZYBOY:
I love fishing too, here we catch pike, walleye, cats and some sturgen and bass.
I loved Mexico when we went for marlin, but I gotta get to BC and catch me some salmon soon.

Kelvin, Last year i stuck to Thornbury, they were doing work on the fish ladder there, so the Rainbows and the Salmon had no where to go, it was like shooting fish in a barrel man. We were litterally pulling the roe bags away from the smaller rainbows. As for the salmon, you could walk across them and because they weren't travelling far they were incredibly silver. 2 weeks ago i went up to check out the progress on the ladder, its all complete, so we have more and less congested (with people) water to fish this year.. I will be out there most of the season, but we are planning a trip to the Ganaraska..

Hey Matt where is Thornbury I may make a trip there also lol and how is the rainbow fishing now???? maybe this weekend I will make up my mind Gany or Thorbury lol
Kelvin, Thornbury is about 10 minutes from Wasaga beach.. You could prolly lay down across the river, its that narrow, but the fishing is amazing there..
matt_mcco: in all honesty, your Taxidermist should have known by the length of that pike that it is infact a Master Angler.. If you dont mind my asking, who are you having do your fish?? You can register your fish at any Wal_Mart or Candian Tire.. They're always willing to take down your info and send it in to the ministry.. Congrats on such a nice fish either way!.
hey matt...
you told me you go fishing in the credit like 30 seconds from my house. I never go, but i heard it's a blast......so, wanna take me out with you one day in a couple weeks???
i need someone that knows what their doing :(

I bought a fishing rod this year. So far the biggest fish I've caught was only around a foot. I can't remember what kind of fish I've caught.
