well.. umm.. is there any options? they died.... did u follow the instructions etc?
What did u apply as a dosage? I am so sorry to hear that but I am seriously wondering how that happenned.. please give us more info on the event.
sorry again to hear,
Dom
Well, there's not much you can do now. Provent-a-Mite will kill snakes if it applied to the snake, or if used in any other way than specified. That's why I always recommend and will always use much safer mthods, that can be sprayed all over the snake with no ill effects, such as Nix, Black Knight, etc. Did you follow the instructions step-by-step?
i followed the directions exactly as the can stated. i took my snakes out of the cages and let the provent-a-mite dry and then i took a fan and aired out the cages then i put the snakes back in the cages. just like the can say. please help
thanks, mat

Let us know the exact situation.....like details man.....where the snakes were, where u sprayed, what material, length of time u let for it to air out, EVERYTHING......tell us the whole story, from start -end....
I've used it a few times and have had nothing but good things to say about it...

Mloehr
Sorry to hear about your loss.
( before i start remember mites live in the eyes( rims around the eye) and mouth of your snakes )
I have a couple of solutions for you these work extremely well.
First and least expensive is palmolive soap you apply it undiluted to your snake head to tail (it wont hurt the eye,s)put your snake into a rubber maid container and let sit for a 1/2 hr or even an hr it wont hurt them.
Rinse completely and return to a rubbermaid .
Second....There,s a product on the market called
Nature Zone Benson & Son snake oil &reptile polish again you apply this directly to the animal covering it head to tail ( again it wont hurt the eyes) and you leave it on dont wash it off.
Its all natural
Contents are as follows
Saflower oil
Sweet almond oil
Avacado oil
jojoba oil
Wheat germ oil
Alovera oil
Neem oil
Tea tree oil
Citrus
Now after you have treated your pets you must clean and disinfect your set up throw out anything wood ( drift wood ect)
Wash out aqauriums disinfect with bleach rinse and dry.
Clean all glass as well with good cleaner (eggs are not affected by insectacides ) and they stick to everything.( they can live in your carpet as well)
Once you have everything cleaned completley start reassembleing your set up.
Something to remember is when ever you get a new animal qaurentine it for at least a month in its own container in another room to prevent this from happening again.
Hope this helps you out.
Phil
I was under the impression that provent-a-mite was perfectly safe. I have used it many times, and I know that it says dont spray the animals, but I cant see it killing the animals if they were sprayed.
Linds, are you sure, has this ever happened?
if its true, guess I shouldnt use it again in the future
anyway Linds, let me know...if this is true, I would rather not use it again....
thanks

Matt, are u saying that when u used it, u sprayed the snake?
Cause yes, doing it that way, can kill ur snake....
Yes there have been many "Provent-A-Mite accidents", they pop up now and again, Ive never had it happen but I have spoken with people that have. Personally, if it has the ability to kill a snake, I would rather steer clear of that product and choose something that is much safer. If there are options out there to go with something less toxic, why not use it? :D
My deepest condolences on your lose…
