Before you read this please understand I am still neutral and you getting pissed off will not help anything. Because I do not do what people tell me to do, but I do listen to constructive suggestions.:firestart
That being said...

Venomoids are reptiles that have had their venom glands surgically removed so they can be safe for everyone.
These are a few pros and cons
Pros
Yeah i can own a viper now and not be scared
If a venomoid got loose in your subdivision or apartment you dont have to hide the children
Less need for antivenom and all service hospitals in areas with multi venomus snakes (Like Texas) who barely know what antivenom is and where to find it. (Makes hurping fun!)
Cons
Makes an animal loose its previous defence. Yes and No you deside.. (I personally would thing as a owner you would keep them from having to defend themselves) But I guess some people are not that responsible
The venom glans can grow back sometimes. Though I am not sure this is proven or just spectulation if anyone knows please post it here.
*&%^*&^ lowlife breeders making a quick dime selling a hot snake as a venomoid
I am sure there are a lot more pros and cons... I am not even a expert, these are just things I have read about and would like to hear what you think about it.
I hope I have made it as clear as possible

i feel that altering an animal to suit are needs is wrong if you want a snake that is non venomous there are plenty out there

Me to I love venomous even lived in areas with an abundance of them but for the kids sake I would not own them.
nor even think about altering them genetics is one thing surgery is another . QUESTION doesn't it complicate feeding?

I dont think it would unless you were feeding it live prey. But then again its chances are still just as good as any non-venomus reptile. Bite pull swallow :)

Venomous snakes are the most beautiful by far and I would love to have one. However , to start cutting into one of these beautiful creatures to suit my needs is not something I would ever do, nor something I respect at all. Since no one can get the opinion of the recipient of this procedure it isn't any one else's deciison to make.
Just My Opinion
My opinion .. it's about the same mentality (not refering to yours SilverTongue) as saying ... sure, you can go out with my daughter, but we'll have to castrate you first.
If you have to surgically alter an animal to keep it ... don't keep it!! They are not here for our amusement.
Like most ppl here .. I love venemous snakes but Disagree with keeping them and even more getting their venon gland out..
Dom
I don't really think that it is fair to make the snake live an altered life just because it is now in your collection. It has lived its life using its venom to kill and disable prey (if WC or fed live) and you are taking that power away from them. In a way you are taking away its power and protection. That is what it can use to defend itself so I am not fully against it, I just don't support it.
i think venomous snakes are awsome but i wouldn't feel right removing it's best defense it just wouldn't be rite i don't support the idea. there beutiful creatures thoe

But when I do, its all good stuff.
But what is your question? Whether or not they should be kept, or what do we think of venamous snakes and their place in nature???

Basically asking what is your opinion and thought about Venomoids pros cons and just thoughs in general. I am just curious. Because I would love to have a venomus snake, but I have a 5 year old daughter several animals I dont want accdently killed ect ect besides that being public enemy #1 with poison and animal control is not on my wishlist.
Granted I am not an experienced enough herper yet. I would never even consider getting a venomus snake till I was confadent that I could handle an emergency situation if one arose.
That being said. Right now it is just a thought. Thye are soooo beautiful and deadly looking you can see both their beauty and the death in their eyes!
I am glad you all are repling to this. You all have ben very informative. keep the opinions coming! :)
