I thought you might like these Rev. For those of you who doubt the capailities of snakes to take a big meal well here's proff of what they can handle. This is a 75g rat. It was intended as one of two I gave to my small adult female ball last night. She refused so I gave one to my female anery. I normally give her 2 30g mice so weight wise it's not all that different.

Right on Trevor! Thank you for, once again, helping to show people that the myth of the "largest part of the snake" is not correct. I bet that was one happy Anery Corn after that meal :)

Great shots Trevor, once again dismissing that size=power feeding myth, bet she won't get another meal for 10-14 days. You can power feed an animals by feeding 10 fuzzies every 3 days or a mouse every 3 days or some other such feeding schedule, most of my neos are on a weekly schedule in 4 months when they start eating hoppers and such, but a year old corn getting 2-5 fuzzies or pinks a meal seems very silly and poor husbandry IMHO. Great shots again Trevor, thanks for helping those that look AND see.

You know what, it wasn't even all that much bigger. You can tell it's in there but it's not like super obivouse.

Yeah, at least 14!

Thanks for the comments guys,
Trevor

Awesome pics Trevor! I'm very glad to see that you also feed your snakes proper meals! :)

Great pics!

I find it amazing what corns can squeeze in. Everytime I think I'm offering a food item that's borderline too big they always prove me wrong and gulp them down!

In my animals I have found that my corns will stretch the most. Any other opinions?

wow.. nice meal.. I find my corns will eat the biggest things compared to their size..

I am one that believes in the irregular schedule.. and bigger meals..

right now most of my snakes have schedules like this. 5 days, 10 days, 6 days, 14 days, 7 days, 3 days.. it all depends on when the stuff comes out the other end.. some snakes digest faster than others.. it all depends on where they choose to lounge around.. the ones that love the heat wanna eat more often.. the ones that barely use the heat don't..

As a rule I do feed smaller meals more often. I've been doing it that way for two years now while raising my collection. Since I entered into the hobby on November 1st 2001 with my first corn I've only ever aquired 4 adult snakes. The rest I've raised my self from hatchlings. It takes longer but I prefer to do it that way. So because I have to raise my breeding stock I pay very close attention to feeding scheduals. I use my digital scale to track the weights of each meal. I also weigh the snakes after every dump and shed. I've had great sucess with raising ball pythons this way. Maybe some day I'll try bigger meals less often. You know how it goes though when you find a system that works for you, you stick with it!
Cheers,
Trevor

I'm not sure who stretches more... the corns or the BCI's.... boas have amazing capabilities too.
