Ths is just to give me and other people who read ths an idea about sizes of food for snakes.
Thanks

Alex- A NEWBORN ball python takes ADULT mice, or rat pups. Never fuzzies or pinkies. those are much much too small for a python. They are never in the line up.
Start with rat pups or adult mice from birth (not talking about problem feeders or anything just a normal feeding baby bp) and eventually you move from there all the way up to possibly large rats one day. My 30 inch (2 1/2 feet) girl eats a couple adult mice, or a medium rat every week or so. She started out on adult mice at 14 inches.

my bp eats adult mice...she is 2 ft........you don't up their prey size according to length....you go by how big the biggest part of their "belly" is.........and feed them something that size or a little bigger.but not to big....My 3 ft (??) bp is on med rats now.....so you can't really go by length....

I just got two balls that were born in July. They were on F/T fuzzie mice now they eat Fuzzie rats. The sooner you get to rats the better. If you want them to grow that is.

Yeah, definately start them on adult mice and take note of the size of the lump it'll leave. That should give a decent idea of how big of a prey item they can take versus the thickness of their body and just keep that in mind as the snake grows. Try to get them on rat pups as early as possible if you can get them, they're much healthier for the snake. Its also a good idea to try to get them on F/T or P/K early on too, if not right from the start.

I'd stay away from fuzzies altogether. See if they have a rat pup roughly the size of an adult mouse. If not, just get him an adult mouse.
How often are you feeding him? He should be on an adult mouse or rat pup every 7-10 days.
Also, are you feeding live, pre-killed or frozen/thawed?

He can take a rat fuzzie so why not give him the best? Rats are better for them. Besides you don't want him getting hooked on mice. You can't feed an adult ball mice so why would you feed a baby ball mice? They will grow faster on rats.

1 every 5 to 7 days. Make sure he has a hot spot of at least 90.

My two ball pythons are 28 inches(male) and 26 inches(female) and they eat small rats.

My adult female is about 4 1/2ft and she is on adult rats, then again my 3ft male will not take anything bigger than adult mice which is a pain
