Frozen/Thawed mice are the best for hatchlings. When born, they are capable of eating full size mice. They should be switched to F/T rats as soon as possible as rats are more nutritious for their little growing bodies. I started off feeding hoppers, then switched to small rats, i couldn't be more happy with Monty's growing progress!

I two newest BP's are CB July 03's.. Right now they're on F/T mice @ 20 grams.. Once they hit 250-300 grams, they're on to F/T rats @ 60 grams..
So when I think about it, I'm feeding them about 1/5th of their body weight..
I don't know if rats are more nutritious than mice but I do know that they're more meatier and more meat is good..
What I think is best for a CB hatchling are adult mice or rat pups around 20-30 grams.. 'Cause unless you hatched the baby yourself, the hatchling should already had a few smaller meals before it was put up for sale..

I'd start your bp out on f/t pinkie rats. I've heard they are more nutritious then mice. Mine has been on f/t rat pinks since hatching, and is growing like a weed.

I feed my 2ft bp a F/T adult mouse every friday. and my 3 1/2 ft (????) bp med rats.......so I'm thinking about putting the 2ft one on small rats in about a month or so..
