1 of mine use to play hide and go seek real well. He would hide in the closet on the topshelf in a box which had inter folded flaps. behind the stove, behind the couch, inside my old box spring, inside of an old stero, in the window cill and many more places. He would hide in plain site. The usually like to climb high.

How big is you Boa? Best of luck in your hunt!

i was thinking about suggesting that too. I hope you don't have cats because my cat found the mouse before my snake did! But in return my cat found my snake too, which helped! :) He just sat there starring at the snake, it was cute!

Mine was pretty much limited to 2 rooms- we found them under the dresser, top book shelf, under the couch, and my ball even found my warm neck in the middle fo the night when I was sleeping!!

Any more advice, comments?

Just look everywhere, even where you think it would be impossible for the snake to be! That's really all i can say. It should turn up eventually! :) And no the cat didn't hurt it, they were both equally scared of eachother and just had a starring contest (thank god) :)

They usually roam @ night so plan on staying up. When was the last time he/she was feed? What you could do instead of letting a mouse run around the house defecating everywhere. You could go to Walmart or your local dept. store and get one of those Rubbermaid shoe boxes and using a screwdriver or a drill put some holes in the top and sides so that the smell of the mouse fills the room or house. When and how did you lose him and do you think he's in the same room?

lost her sometime after 2:30 am, the mouse is in a box, and yes should be in the same room, i'll stay up for a week if i have to.

She will come out when you least expect it. Do you have a camera so we can see what the room looks like that she was in.

no camera, sorry. Not even the damn cat could find her, but i don't think it tried very hard

How big is the boa? Try placing traps (you can make them out of big plastic bottles if the boa is small enough) with a rodent inside, along the wall. Snakes often travel along the walls. I would recommend putting your cats away when you are not around, cats can AND will mess up, possibly kill, a snake. When I was away several years ago at a funeral for 3 days, my cat had busted the screen open on a rosy tank. 3 weeks later I found the snake, all chewed up :( Made a full recovery, just a few little scars to remember the incident. Cats are not smart when it comes to snakes either. They have no problems taking on a snake that can eat them. To a cat a snake is just one big moving piece of string  Apart from tearing your house apart and baiting traps, you need a lot of luck on your side. You can try putting flour on the floors at night, you will be able to see slither trails if your snake has gone through it, so you know she's at least there. Good luck, and don't give up! Some people have found snakes they had lost 8 months prior!!!

She is only 3 months old and maybe 2 ft long the traps may be a great idea, i'll try it

Is it possible to cool down the room you think it's in, then place a nice warm hide box with heat lamp in the corner to draw it in?

I've never tried it- but I htink I read on this site somewhere that this is helpful.

try using two sided tape along the wall/floor line. Seems to have worked out well for me

I have just got a Boa. Mine hasn't escaped .... YET! But, I know it probably will sometime in it's life. Good luck with finding it.

We also have cats who just sit for hours on end, watching Ozzy (Boa) They even come & sit by me when I'm handling him. I know it's safe at the moment because Ozzy is only a yearling & the cats are too big for him, but I don't know what he'll be like when he is full grown. I hope he will see no point in tagging the cats because he will be fed enough by me.

This is a good idea, BUT!!! Take care when you find your snake on double sided carget tape. My Bull snake got stuck to tape & it was a vet job to get her unstuck... After an all day wait to get my baby back & a big expence, the vet told me all I had to do, was use nail polish remover, dilluted to about 5 part water 1 part remover.
