View Full Version : Snake ID in Kathmandu Garden

Can anyone give me an identification of the snake in the attached photo. It was about 1.5-2.0m long and active during the day. Seen in our garden in Kathmandu Nepal, altitude 1,385m. It was a uniform brown on top and pale below, as shown in the photo'. I have an equally obscure picture of its mid regions as well, but not enough space to post it here!

I wish I could hep ya. Nepal is one area that I never really looked at the herps.

Search is over I think. I identified it, with the help of my son, as an Indo-chinese rat snake, Ptyas korros, on an excellent site at:

It looks to that snake as far as i can tell

I thought it looked a bit like a cobra.
Hard to tell from the angle.

I was guessing a cobra as well, but, I'm not too familiar with the indigenous species in Nepal.
