spot light (I live in england by the way)
shelf, for basking
artificial turf
glass sliding doors
ventilation on each side of the tank

i dont have any shelters yet, but they are soon to come!

Sounds pretty good, might be a bit small for a full grown adult ball python.

Other things you will need...a control device for the heater. A rheostat (dimmer) or a thermostat. A spot light is not required, a regular bulb will give off plenty of heat. Make sure that with both the light & UTH turned on...that there is still a place that where the snake can cool off. Might not need the shelf, depending on how high the light is, make sure that the snake can never come into contact with it.

A good thermometer (or two) is required to properly measure the temperature under the light & above the UTH.

Make sure the sliding glass doors have a lock.

It would be best if the wood is finished to protect against moisture. I think water based sealant is best. Make sure it's fully cured before the snake is put into the enclosure.

Have fun.

The biggest downfall of using glass tanks is the open top. They do not hold heat or humidity. Balls are notorious for bad sheds if their habitat is not set up adequately. There are lots of things you can do to counteract the open top tank. I like to use a humid hide when my snakes are in shed.

Good luck with your set up.

put some live plants and some humid substrate and you should be cool

cover some (not half) of the tank when not in shed, and lightly mist the towl (part touching the screen) then when in shed cover it up a little more (still not half way) that way your not cutting off alot of air.....use of if you have a heat lamp...put a damp towl (wash rag) underneath the light IN the tank....and as the lamp drys it, it will provide humidity...

It should be fine if you put plenty of hides and fake plants and such in it....As linds says they aren't born into an 4x2 box in the wild, They just have more choices for hiding.
