I cleaned Monty's cage today and noticed a lot of dried water droplets from when i spray his cage with a squirter. I used some 50/50 vinegar water solution to get rid of the marks and it worked rather well, i dried everything off and put him back in. I was just wondering if anyone knows if vinegar can be harmful to snakes? I made sure the enclosure was dry and did not smell of vinegar before putting the snake back in. Thanks for any response!

well i think 50/50 is a little overkill.
as long as you washed out the vinegar really really good i dont think it should be a prob.
but next time a 5-10% vinegar and the rest water will do just fine.
I just use straight white vinegar when disinfecting or cleaning glass and then give a rinse with water and dry. Vinegar is 100% non-toxic to your snake (this is why we can use it to drop a snake that may have constricted on your arm...lol :p ).

hmmmm i must have been thinking bleach.
My bad :)
If you have a glass tank a straight edge razor works wonders for hard water spots. We get them terrible here but it takes about two minutes to have glass clean with the razor. They even make them with special handle for this.

Yeah, it's a glass tank, i'll have to try that razor trick. Thanks to all that posted...
Hmmm... maybe I'm just handicapped with sharp objects :p We had one of those blades at work to use on the tanks and I never got the hang of it, it took forever :o I just used vinegar instead, got things done better and didn't make those annoying scraping sounds
Ugh, just thinking about those scraping sounds gives me the chills! :)
