View Full Version : A bunch of questions
I got some questions:
My girl is 51 grams. I do not plan breeding her this season because it's a little bit to late but will she be ok for next year??
My male is 91 grams. He is not to big for her??
Can a female drop her tail during mating??
My male he is on a diet of criquets as staple foods with a variety of super worm, meal worm and silkies. Is that ok??
In the opposit my girl refuse criquets. She is on a diet of silkies as staple foods with meal worm, super worm, wax worm and the occasional pinkie. Is that ok??
Thanks everyone!!

she should be good for next season, no he is not but always watch them while mating to make sure he doesnt hurt her or anything like that, as she is a bit smaller
Your female can easily shed her tail, and will do it readilly in any stressful situation, as said earlier, but they grow back not so pretty though!! If your female refuses crickets it is probably because they move too quickly, and scare her!! try putting them in the fridge for half an hour, it wont hurt them, it will just slow em down!!! try it!! and dont feed her too many pinkies, as they can be too nutritious which m,ight cause secondary problems, one a week is fine.
Male diet is fine
hope the breeding goes well

At around nine months if females are at breeding weight of 30-35g. Males may breed as soon as seven months. CAUTION: breeding a female that is too young and/or underweight may result in premature death! It is best to hold back and even isolate underweight adult females to maximize their size and be sure of their health before you breed.

Not necessarily. Leos just develop preferences, just like we do, and often they change with time, it may not have anything to do with the motion of the prey. Pinkies are also not "too nutritious", they are 100% nutritionally complete unlike feeder bugs, however they are too high in fat for a geckos requirements ;)

Eep. 30-35 grams is so tiny! I wouldn't feel comfortable at all breeding something that size.

First off, it sounds like they're both getting a well rounded diet, so that's good :) No, your male isn't "too big" for your female...
Geckos can drop their tail during any overly stressful situation -- however, I've yet to have a female drop her tail during mating. Anything can happen though... More likely she'll just end up with a few "love bites" ;)
I usually start breeding my females at 40-50g... bigger never hurts though! The more weight your female has on her before breeding, the better she'll be able to take the stress of it and laying clutches...51g is a pretty decent size though, and if you're waiting until next year, I'm sure she'll put on some more weight before then...
Is it too late to breed this year?? If No do you think it would be a great idea that I breed mine?? Will she make it trew??

if the conditions are right it is ussually difficult to stop them breed ing..... i found that anyways....
i think that its okay, but it depends on what season it is wherever you are....
i cant really answer that since i live elsewhere!!!
however, if the conditions are correct they should breed....
LOL... leo season is every season :p Striko said it best. There's never a time when hatchling geckos are not available... if conditions are right they should breed like crazy for you ;)
