View Full Version : Crickets aren't growing!
Some of you know I bought about 1000 1/4 in crix ROUGHLY a week ago... and I've been feeding them plenty of lettuce, carrots, etc.. and they don't really seem to be growing :confused: :confused: :confused: ?
Anybody have any ideas?
I don't know much about crix, but maybe they are full grown?

Keep them HOT. 90F+++
It's been pretty hot... probably 90f +
I'll just give them more time I guess....
Lisa, nope they're only 1/4 in.
Thanks for the replies!
I remember your post. They should have grown by now. Have you tried feeding them a commercial cricket food as well as the veggies? Most pet stores carry one brand or another. They are grain based products with added vitamins and minerals. A little of it goes a long way so it's not a huge expense. That might help.
I'll probably try some of that... the only commercial cricket food I have now is calciumn fortified cricket quencher... But they seem to like the lettuce the most.
It's weird, they're eating **** loads but not growing!
The cricket quencher is meant as a moisture source and doesn't have any food value other than the calcium, and if you are using lots of veggies you won't need it. I would definitely try some of the chow. In Canada, it sell's for about $5 for a good sized jar. Hope this helps.

Mix: 2 quart. rabbit pellet, 2 quart. tropical fish flake food, 1 quart. cat food pellet, 2 quart. oatmeal, 1 quart. milk powder. Add calcium for reptiles and there you go.
You just made your commercial cricket food ;)
I breed crickets 4 years ago with this formula.

I use slices of potato and sweet potato for my crix (I find they fdont get moldy as fast as other food sources) and keep them warm. I never had any problems with them so far.
