Gravid Jax coloring?

What coloration changes does a gravid Jax Xantholophus display? I have a young female that has been jet black since I bought her several weeks ago, and nothing appears to be wrong, she is eating & drinking as well as she should be, and moving around, she appears in perfect health, but is black? Could she be gravid? My 3 other females were the same way, (same shipment) but have since changed to display normal coloration- Whats the deal w/ her? What would she look like, if gravid? Anyone have any pics of one?

ussually when they aren't gravid they are just a green with no pattern to them.but if she is jet black, check all you temps because ussually thats a main sign of stress. These chameleons hate warm like most other montane species. if it is possible a picture that would be awsome. Ya, i am just wondering if she is a wc chameleon? if so i highly suggest you bring her to a vet and get a fecal test and let the vet check her out. well hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to find a picture and post back to me, however, I am a breeder of several montane species, and temps/humidity/basic care are not concerns w/ this girl. She has not been treated for parasites yet, but she is not the least bit symptomatic of parasites, so I have not been in any hurry. As a matter of fact, she is still in quarantine. I have kept, but not bred Jax before, and am just gearing up for that. So I am unsure what a gravid female would look like, and since most gravid chams are dark, it just stands to reason she could be. My only other thought on the subject is she may very well still have her baby colors - that is also very possible, she is pretty small still.

So a gravid Jax has pattern or not? I have a red adult female that I just got last month that is a light brown color, no pattern- she is eating like there is no tomorrow, and gaining weight unusually fast, and I am wondering about her reproductive status ....

Just curious - what species do you keep?

From what I've read jax have no reproductive cycle in captivity. There is a colouration change with receptivity - but no gravid colouration.

How old is she?

For the time being (until I move to a bigger place) I am breeding Veileds, Quads, Fischeri Multi's, and Xantholophus Jax- this is soon to include Johnstoni, Merumontanus Jax and *possibly* a few others. I absolutely love the triceros chams. Another highly underrated cham is the fischeri multituberculatus; these are VERY hard to come by, I have found, but are wonderful little guys. They are chock full of personality, and are they ever cute! I have a clutch of them incubating right now, but they are only about half done. The two Jax in question: the "black" female, (Milificent) is a sub-adult, probably 4-6 months or so (WC animal - so I dont know) and the elder one (Dinah) is probably a year or so.
