View Full Version : People with Uro's. I have a question for you.
My GF got a Mali about 3 months ago. Its CB from deer fern farms. Its healthy, fat, eating, going to the bathroom, but it doesnt like people at all. He is not social, doesnt like being held, usually goes and hides when someone else comes in the room. And I feel realy bad, because my GF wanted something she could play with, and this definately is not that. But he is only 8 or 9 months old. could that be why? do they become more friendly and social as they get older? Or if they are like this as a baby, its typically the way they are their whole lives? Please let me know. Its not mean or aggresive, it just seems like its scared of everything, and doesnt want to play with anyone.

It will probably calm down as it gets older.

I got mine at the same age and he's now 5 years old and very friendly. He has been that way for 3 years now. He will shy away into his cave if I approach his enclosure to fast. Just tell her not to startle the little uro and it'll be calmer soon!

I got a mali from the toronto show..for the first 3 or 4 weeks he was totally unfriendly, and doing the same things you described. Now after having him for 2 months (around) he is more friendly than the previous uro i owned. Now that i have both my smaller one runs away and gets scared of everything but my older one form the show scratches the glass because he anted to come outside and play with me. Once i get him out he runs around all over my hands and loves being outside the tank. It just takes time and daily interactions. You will eventually gain its trust and it will realize your not trying to harm it. I have to interact with my tegu everyday and ive had him the same time as the uro..got them both fom the show..and now the tegu is MUCH MUCH calmer than it was when i first got him..i can actauly hold him now :) so goodluck with your uro and remember to tell your GF to interact with it everyday
