Here are a couple of pics of our '99 female basin. The "hanging" one really shows her latterals. Yup that is the "pre-poop" pose, just add water. lol

God I love Basins!!!! If I ever get back into them it will have to be them or nothing! Too bad there are almost none in Canada.
She's awesome Craig,

she's lovely! Have you ever been tagged by one of your ETBs? Are the bites really as bad as people say they are? ETBs are beautiful, and I've been thinking about getting one - but I don't want to get one if they can do serious damage. Thanks :)

Thanks Guys!
Kristina, I have only been bitten twice (I don't count bites from newborns) both were from situations where the animal was stressed. The first was from a cb male about 3.5' (wc female dropped babies after being imported) during an assist shed. Can't blame him. The other was from a 6' wc female that I startled from sleep, really just a love tap. I have never been bitten by any of our cbb animals and never by any of our animals during normal handling situations. What I mean by normal handling situations is removing them from cages for exercise and maintainence. Emeralds are not BCI's or Burms and can't be treated as a "go with you" pal. Our cages have removable perches, so when we take them outside to the jungle-gym there is no stress from trying to "unwind" them from a permenent perch. Also all our cages are clear acrylic so I believe they don't feel "enclosed" in them. I also believe that they "learn" that we aren't a threat and that interacting with us is not going to cause them harm. All bets are off at feeding time though! :D :D :D

What a beauty! I've been wanting one for awhile now. I'm glad to hear that their biting isn't as bad as some say! The removable perch is a great idea! I'll have to start building my enclosure now! :) Thanks for the great info!

Pookie,
I never said that bites can't be bad, just that I have never had a serious one. The potential is there with those canines to do some serious damage.

What I am saying is that the reputation of always biting is not deserved!;) ;) ;)

oh yeah i knew what you meant! Maybe my post just came out wrong! :) I understand that with every snake certain precautions should be made when handling. I just heard that they were just a bit more aggressive than others. Which could still be true but it's always good to hear a more positive/encouraging story about them!
