Not sure if this is the right place to post this but:
Hey guys, Ive kinda been looking for a snake that gets MAX five-six feet area. A lot of the red tails get too big, I couldnt take care of a snake that got too big. Any suggestion? Python or Boa doesnt matter, But Im pretty set on Boids. Thanks a lot! :)

I have two Balls, Pythons that is. I was thinking more the lines of an ATB or something, something a little more out there? Thanks for the suggestions so far though, Keep them coming! :)

Brazilian Rainbow Boas get 5-7 feet :) Totally a manageable size, and they're absolutely gorgeous too of course ;)
ATBs stay pretty small too, but most of them are pretty nasty temperament wise...
Solomon Island Ground Boas are cool... Spotted Pythons... Dumeril's boas stay a bit smaller than the red tails... I'm sure I could come up with more, but that's all I can think of right now ;)
Hope that helps a bit :)

A RATTLESNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though there are a lot of cool colubrids! Don't count them out just look around on the net and see what kind of snake you are most interested in then narrow it down. :D TB

A hog island boa is a good choice although they are a bit pricey. Brazilian Rainbow boas get that big, but sometimes a foot bigger. Kenyan Sand Boas are a bit under 5 feet along with rosy boas.
Corns, Kings, Milks, most species of ratsnakes fit that description for colubrids that are readuly available.
If you want a Boid, go with an IJCP or a ball python, and if you can use a snake hook with ease and don't mind a nippy behavior go for the ATB, but I would suggest buying a CBB baby and trying to tame it.

Dumerils get bigger than standard Colombians... they just take a lot longer getting there.
Hog Islands are an excellent choice as are the Spotted pythons. Savu Island pythons are pretty nifty as well.

blood pythons get very thick, though..so they ARE a big snake. They can get up to 50 -some odd pounds. They get as thick as a burmese python. They are not for everyone, especially someone who doesn't want a big snake.
I say go for an IJ carpet python or a hogg island boa. I personally am thinking of getting a hogg island boa. - they are beautiful :D

I would also vote for the Hogs (since you already have the obvious choice of ball pythons). I don' t know if they are "out there", but they are not common.

While bloods are fat snakes they are not long and no where near as dangerous as a large female burm All bloods you will buy will be able to be handled by you alone bloods get fat but not as fat as female burms and if you opt for a male they are shorter and dont have the same kind of girth as females They arent big snakes just fat ones I belive he already owns a IJ Bloods are cool snakes and borneo short tails are even smaller and just as cool
But what you buy is really up to you just run a couple 100 searches on google you will find what you want in time

i'm in love with ball pythons. the best thing to do though is make a list of these suggestions and go to a breeder or a reputable pet store and look at/handle them. DON'T BUY. Then go home, and research the ones you liked. (with the exception of maybe the rattlesnake :D )

From what I've heard, Hogg islands can sometimes get above 6 feet. You might try a Sonoran Desert (Mexican) BCI, Crawl Cay (expensive, but smaller) or Cay Caulker Boa. Ben Siegel Reptiles has some Cay Caulkers for sale right now I think. I've got a few Sonorans, but they aren't ready to go yet.
All 3 get about 5' and I've never seen one get above 6'.

I second what the Rev said, Eastern Indigo.

Rev and Enso - Since when do Indigos only reach 5-6 feet? Indigos are the largest colubrid on earth, reaching sizes of 9-10 feet.
Hogs or Bloods would be my choice.

if you have the money go for an emerald tree boa otherwise try with brazilian rainbow or the smaller columbian rainbow boas amazon tree boa can do nice pets too if you like aggressiv snakes ( i do love them for their aggressiv behavior :P ) some are tame though ... what else ... sand boas ... hog island dont forget about colubs a lots of people underestimates them dunno why but some of them are really nice red tail green ratsnake yellow rat they get pretty long and slim really nice snakes very intelligent too :P
Boids under that average under the 6 foot mark include but are not limited to: Hog Isle BCI, Central American BCI, Colombian Rainbow Boas, Guyanese Rainbows, Argentine Rainbows, most Brazilian Rainbows, Spotted Pythons, Children's pythons, Anthill Pythons, all the sand boas, all the rosy boas, Amazon Tree Boas, Emerald Tree Boas, Irian Jaya Carpets, Green Tree Pythons, Savu Pythons, Ringed Pythons, Ball Pythons, Tannimbar Scrubs, Calabar Pythons, Super Dwarf Reticulated Pythons. Do as much research on them as you can and go from there, see which one best suits your requirements and abilities ;)

Kristina was right on the money. Although they may not have length (though a 7' blood isn't unheard of), these are not snakes to be taken for granted. They are fast, incredibly powerful animals and can easily be considered a large constrictor, and can be awkward to handle. Some of the bloods I've seen do match the girth of adult burms as well. If you don't want a large constrictor, a blood is not a good choice.

They are *much* smaller than 5'. Kenyans are usually 1.5'-3', while rosy boas are 2'-3' on average. Below pictured is my adult female rosy. She last measured at approximately 23".

Linds you have seen blood's as fat as a good sized FEMALE Adult burm? I havent Males yep but not females
Yes, I have seen bloods just as fat as adult female burms. Not a giant female, but still a large enough animal. Bloods are strong and fast, though they aren't long and they look cumbersome, don't let their looks deceive you, not a snake to be underestimated...

if you want a boid defenitly go with a bp and a colubrid a corn
I would watch out for some of the Central American boas(Sorry Linds) Yes some do stay very nice sized 4-5 feet and some can get as large (or very close to Colombians) I must agree on the Insular forms of B.c.i as they stay in the range you are looking for some can be a bit nasty But a hog Island would be a good choice as well as Crawl Cay's (more money) you have a lot of choices in boids (do your home work ) and enjoy what you finally do decide to bring home.

Here's an example of what I paid for my BCI:
Sonoran: $125 e.
Crawl Cay: $650/pair
Cay Caulker: $200 e.
Both my sonorans are at 5 feet and somewhere around 6-7 years old. The parents of my crawls and the caulker are no bigger than 5 feet either.
There is only one breeder of Crawl Cays here in the US that I know of.

Indigos are listed at 60" - 103" , that equates to roughly 5-9 ft.
It was just a suggestion. Fine, then get a IJCP. I didn't know i had to be so exact. It won't happen again. A 9ft colubrid is very different than a 9ft boid...

Depends on the boid ;) Not all of them are heavy bodied.
Blood pythons..Ball pythons...Solomon isld boas...Childrens pythons....
