I think it looks nice, but if you aren't 100% happy with it, don't get it put PERMANENTLY on your body. You shouldn't have to ask others' opinions on something if you really loved it. You know what I mean? If you love it, go for it!
I was also thinking on my right arm...like up near my bicep...I should have a clean version posted up soon done in adobe illustrator

What ever shoulder you choose make sure the head is facing forward. I like the tat but you should consider wrapping the tail around your arm for an even better effect. Just an idea. TB

I wanted to follow the tail down the back side of my arm to my wrist...and have the end wrap around my wrist like a bracelet...but that seemed a little drastic...

You can put on 4 inches of muscle before your tats even begin to distort. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

LoL 4 inches of muscle'd be nice tho LoL
If your options are a grim reaper or a dragon, go for the dragon! That's a cool drawing. I have a celtic dragon I want to get someday.... just can't decide where to put it :D
And, don't forget that if you body build a lot, get the tat, and then lose the muscles at some point, you could have the same sort of prob with the tat changing shape.

I have a dragon tattoo on my left arm and I was quite scrawny when I got it. Then, I started weight lifting and it didn't distort at all. :) Your friend is a rare case, and yeah, it does suck when that happens. The only tattoo that I KNOW will stretch is the one on my stomach during a pregnancy. :)

Good stuff to know RD THe only thing preventing me from getting a tat was the fact i thought it would get stretched to death

I got my first Tat when I was 16, I decided on a Tribal eagle that is similar in style to yours. Shortly after I started lifting weights and put on about 20-30 pounds of muscle in 1 1/2- 2 years. My tat didn't distort at all, the broken lines of the design really helped.
As long as you don't get a fine line you should be ok.
Great looking tat by the way, I would definatley get it done.
