Oh noooo! LOL. My Jack Russell got sprayed point blank last year....the smell was so strong we thought something was burning before we even realized she got sprayed. Then we used to tomato sauce and she busied herself licking it up. Didn't work though.

If your cute dig still smells try picking up some no skunk shampoo at pet store. It was the only thing I found that worked. Six months after spraying, she STILL smelled of skunk when wet!

LOL cute pics!

Grant, perfect home remedy, its worked for me time and time again..
Peroxide, baking soda and dishsoap/laundry detergent.. it works almost instantly, and its safe to use.. Most vets use the same remedy. Good luck man, the smell can make you go insane cant it?

V.hb...i read that somewhere last night, but didn't have any peroxide at the time.

what ratio or...err....how do you go about applying it to the dog..

the smell is actually kinda soothing if you like that burnt rubber smell ;0)

If you know someone who uses Melaleuca products you can probably get rid of the smell in one, maybe two baths with Melamagic and Solumel. The smell does not reappear when the dog gets damp six months from now. I know this from experience.

Good luck!

Grant, I dont know the recipe off hand.. I think its equal parts of each, made up for as much as you need... You have to rub it right into where the dog was hit, then rince it with water afterwords. Good luck

Actually they are great pets. There is a large number of people that keep them as pets and they get descented as pets.

Poor dog, my gf's dog was sprayed by a skunk few months ago and we used the tomato juice too. It was an American Eskimo and it stayed pink for a few days, the whole house smelled for a few days too. :D

Poor dog, Grant i have one question.... Were you holding the leash when this happened or was the little guy running free?

The rottie i had a number of years ago managed to get sprayed in our back yard. she took off just as i undid her leash to let her in the house. Heard a yelp and then she came back even faster then she left. It must of been a glancing blow or a spent skunk as she didn't have that "wave of aroma" from 10' away... you basicly had to get a couple feet from her to smell it. An immeadiate hose down didn't get rid of the smell but did mute it down to a tolerable level.

Best of luck, and no the dogs never learn cause they still wanna chase the black and white "kitty" afterwards.
