Is there a good place to buy sexed red-eyed tree frogs? I'd like to get a 1.1 pair and try breeding them next season. Ones born last year would be best so I know they'll be old enough to breed next year (from what I've read they should be around 1.5 years at least to breed). I found 2 for sale in the classifieds forum and I'm waiting for a reply (I don't think they know what sex they are). Any other suggestions? I was planning on buying 4 or 5 and hoping I'd get at least one pair but then I found out how expensive they are so I'd rather stick to just 2. I also heard most wild-caught ones are males.
Thanks,
Martin

for young RETF you can go to www.darwinsoasis.ca

I have lots available, but only 1-2 months out of water (not sexable)...
To be honest, you probably won't have much luck breeding them with just 1.1, you usually need multiple males to get the females "in the mood"...

What do you suggest? Is 2.1 good? I always thought it was the other way around (ie. 1.2 would be better), I guess it's different for frogs.
Thanks,
Martin
Hi Martin,
I'm not sure what a good ratio would be, maybe something like 3 males to every 2 females? My breeding groups are fairly large, about 15 or so adults, definately more males than females...
