Hi, I just got my first Ball Python and am trying to figure out the best way to buy feeders for it. He is on Rat Pinkies, I can buy them live locally for around $1.00 each and see them online cheaper but the shipping costs seem very high for just owning one snake. What do you single snake owners do?

Also: What is the best way to kill a Pinky Rat?

Thanks
Joe!

1 dollar isnt that bad, you can buy a large amount that are frozen at reptile expos. All you have to do is thaw them out before feeding. The best way to kill a pinky rats.............hmm some people hit them against a wall, some people gas them, personally i think the gas thing is the best way but im sure people would disagree.
Good Luck :)

Joe,
$1 USD is pretty typical for retail, not a great price. The online suppliers are great, but its best to order in bulk to offset the prices of shipping. For one snake you will have to vacuum seal the pinkies to keep them from going bad in your freezer.

Steve,
Apparently pinkies are not affected by gas for some reason. I haven't tried this for fact since I'm amongst the population of wackers :p I have been told by several sources though, some of which work in labs.

you may want to consider getting a few of different sizes as that bp isn't going to stay small for ever. get them frozen so you're not feeding live later on.
