What is the best heat source for a sav monitor. I have everything else all read up on and planned. But I need to know about heat sources.
I'm talking about a baby sav, however, I need one that will do when he gets large aswell. Or even suggestions on the different heat sources I can use throughout his life and growth...

I think I'm just gonna have a heat bulb too, if thats not enough, a ceramic heat emitor????
For mine, I use a two 75watt desert heat lights...it seems to keep him toasty, but the only reason for that is being I have him in a 150 gallon tank...
You can use anything that emits heat. if you have a proper enclosure, you could achieve high bask temps with a regular 100W lightbulb. For larger enclosures I use halogen flood lamps. They work great.

Ceramic heat emitters get scalding hot to the touch, whereas bulbs don't. This is a hazard to have near an animal.
They also are good for ambient heating, but not spot heating. They will tend to create an oven; bulbs provide one basking area, with various grades of temps around it the further you get away from the bulb.
And lastly, you don't have a visual indicator that it is on, off or stopped working, like you do with a bulb.
It's a no-brainer.
I use halogen floods.
