View Full Version : someone'll know....
Hi everyone! Just a question about prolonged low temps. During the blackout my living room was mostly 75, but went down to 72. The power was off for 24 hours less 10 minutes, and I'm wondering if there's anything I need to do for my leos besides warming them gradually? (I got home 3 hours after the power came on, so it was a bit late for that). Essentially, can I expect any problems? Or am I just overreacting here? :)

Provided that they had not just been fed they should be okay. The prolonged low temps would cause digestive problems which can, on rare occassins, cause an impaction. But since it was only a 24 hour period that senario is unlikely. If you gradually warm them you shouldn't have any problems.:D

Feeding was no problem Julie, I didn't do it - it was on the way home with the crix that the power went off, and I figured digesting with no heat would be difficult for them, so I kept the crickets in the bag. They got warmed up at whatever speed the IR bulbs heat the tank up, though...

I would think that you are in the clear on this one then:D Great question by the way. We on the west coast have been wondering about all the herp keepers on the east coast.
