What's the difference Cooks, Amazon? ATB links? How bad is a bite from an ATB?

they have big strong teeth
I got a pict but it doesnt give it justice...
Some have been bitten by it and says that itys not that bad, as long as it only come in and out easily.. you really SHOULDNT move when they are bitin or it will be worse

Thank you for the site and the pic. I know I'm going to get bitten eventually. Thats why I handle him alot. He is tame for an amazon and he hasn't tasted me yet. What do you have in your collection?

What doesn't she have lol! I've got two righ now, the third is with a friend. One is crazy, the other's not so bad. One I wear gloves when handeling the other I don't.

Wow cool bunch of kids you have. Question my ATB is 7mts old and I feed him 1 pinky every five days, is that enough? Also he's super sweet to watch eat looks crazy. He's tame too, I handle him just about everyday, in fact I just got back from a trip to the store with him he's my baby he loves to be pet strange huh?

7 months old and only on pinkies? You need to up the size of the prey, definately. He should be way past pinkies by now.

Poisonous: Do some of your snakes live together? I was wondering how you house that many snakes! I would love to have a collection like that some day, but I don't think I'll ever have enough room. How do you do it? Is it a whole room that you devote to your enclosures or what? Thanks for the info :D

I've been judging food by the thidkest part of his body and the width of his head. It seems to me that anything larger would be to much for him to handle.

he's that small at 7 months old? 7 months is almost a year. a yearling should be a good sized snake, and definately be able to take rat pups or bigger.

Really? He's alittle under 3ft And skinny. He eats good has shed twice. Defacates normally. Is'nt dehydrated. And he is going to shed in a few days.

well, 3 foot is actually a good size. Just because they are skinny doesn't mean they can't take bigger prey. Your ATB will probably not get much thicker than it is now, they usually stay very slender (or, the ones I have seen have been slender!). I still think you should be feeding it a rat pup at least. Or, if you don't want to do that, feed more than 1 pinkie. A 7 month old eating a pinkie just seems weird to me.

Thanks a bunch I'm new to this. I've had reptiles (lizards) and amphibians, all my life and I would catch wild snakes all the time but could never keep a snake in my house. I went to the reptile show and finally gave in to temptaion and got my ATB when he was 7wks. He is tame and will chill with me for hours he is even cool with my dogs checks them out and never strikes. Sounds like you have a nice collection. I'm wanting another ATB, besides I live in the ideal climate for snakes hot, sunny, humid Florida. Thanks again for your help.

Kristina: I have a whole room for my reptiles they all are in big enclosures for the big ones and rubbermaids for the smallest ones.. :)

I like this because I heat my entire room so I dont need a heat pad for everyone. After a year I didnt had any problems with this kind of setup so im pretty much happy about it :)


AmandaLynn, I also think that for a 7month old eating pinkies is weird... dont forget that a snake can take 4 times the size of its head, you can give it a prey a little bigger than its thicker part... never underestimate a snake !!! and besides, you will see it grow much more like this ;)
