20,000 actual watts in a vechile let alone a CVIC?!?!?!
Absolutley impossible!!! ONLY possible in LARGE vehicles, ie: vans, large SUV's, mobile trailer. If you are familar with car audio you would realize what would be involved from ALL ASPECTS of an exteme setup. The bare minimum requirements CANNOT be intalled into a CIVIC. Just as with snakes, educating yourself on the topic will allow you better conversations with other people and avoid mis-statements that will reflect poorly on you.

Look at the above photo of the Lanzar amplifier. 2000 watts? Not real world watts. BS watts created on a bench. Anyone can tighten the power supply and bais the amp. Preforms with music like garbage. I am VERY familar with Lanzar and most other manufacturers and that amp in particular (if you measure it on a bench with industry standard specs) produces around 50 watts per channel (continuous, RMS). These are real world watts as by my distiction "continuous" and "RMS". I was just on the Lanzar site and as usual for manufacturers of amplifiers with crazy claims, they do not provide any of the information I would require to qualify thier statement or decifer if thier claim is true (certain measured values, which are standard in the industry (just go to alpine and look) are not provided. In the past I have inquired to other manufacturers and they will not provide the information. I believe all companies which sell by claims will not provide the info. Enough typing for now.

No need to fight over wattage. Piebald guy is correct in stating that the wattages are not accurate sometimes. Most of the times this is the difference between good mfgs and poor ones. Some mfgs do rate the outputs at different voltages. A higher voltage, although maybe not stable....will increase the amps output. This is why you will see some amps that are 20watts, beat the pants off some that state they are 1000watts. I used to compete in amateur class, and i have done tons of installs for ppl, including our own webmasters....he will vouch that i know how to install and set the stuff up. Having 20,000 watts in a civic...that is insane amount of power. Your talking several batteries, possibly several alternators to. If your cousin is doing the add up of wattage readings written on the amp....the 20,000 watts is no where near accurate. The coils alone to keep up with that amount of transiants of frequency would be crazy...in the millions of millions of micro firads. But on the other end...it is possible i guess in theory. Your cousins car at that sort of wattage would not only expand, break things such as the glass from expansion, but it would stop your heart and also probably be close to, if not the world spl record holder..lol! I have included a link to show you what a car of the same size would look like with only 12,000 watts in it. As you can tell, not only did he place 3rd at Iasca, but the car is completely packed. If your cousins car looks anything like this...and has been certified with its wattage by Iasca, then you know its accurate.
http://www.perfect-tones.com/isuzucar.html
In the meantime, the topic here is cars....here is my baby who is currently awaiting a restoration which i hope to get to soon. Its been sitting for five years now, pretty much in the shape you see it here. I will get to it, but being a mechanic for a living, the last thing you think about when getting home is working on more..lol.
The car is a 1968 Dodge charger R/T. It is a numbers matching car. Its an original 440 big block motor. Although currently i have a done motor and trans in it (a 70 440 big block. I do have all the original stuff, engine untouched and trans etc. The motor is motified with aluminum heads, big cam, its bored ( 30 over), stroked, polished. Has Heavy roller rockers, titanium push rods. The motor in it is a six pack motor, although it only runs a single holley 1050 dominator carb. Everything has been modified engine wise. I have a dyno slip of 451 hp @509 ft lbs torgue. It is a consecutive 12 second car with a best et of 11.92 with a 300hp nos set up. Not great, but not bad for a 4000 pound car. For the resto i have lots of plans for it, possibly a fuel injection system as soon as i can figure out the ins and outs of setting it up etc. The trans is totally modified, its is a 727 torque flight case, which is about all that is left original. The channel plate, valve body, clutches and steels have all been modified. A custom shift kit etc. The rear end is a 8.75 with a detroit locker. I run 3.91 gears, which i plan on changing to make the car more friendly to drive in everyday situations. I could go on and on...but i have to run to go to Mopar fest today....look forward to seeing all the cars :D

This is one of my old rides.. wish I still had it...
1965 Mustang GT, 289 4bl factory.
Everything was original or NOS except the engine.
It looked stock, but that's the way I went with it, engine wise.
The block heads tranny etc, all matched the body, but unless you took off the factory air filter, you never saw the Holly or realized that the intake was aluminum painted to match the factory item.
About the only thing that didn't match by the year were the rims, '66 in the front and '67 styled steel wheels in the rear. I went with them due to the '65 ssw did not have buety rings and the '67 was a tad wider to allow a hair more rubber yet retain the 'stock' look.
Unfortunately, the car met it's demise when i got stupid and sold it.. Got a call a few weeks later that they cracked the block....

well, I don't have anything new and I don't race. We have 2 cars here. One is a 1996 cavalier **** box! (looks nice on the outside but these cars suck!) lol
And our latest car is a 2003 Dodge sx 2.0. "Born to be alive!" We'll see how this one pans out in a couple years. :) We got this one burgandy red and fully equipt. Mags and all. It was everything my husband wanted but 90% of the time you see me driving it. lol.
My husband also does the local races once in a while, in Cornwall. But here for those races it is basically "anything goes" so he tries to find old cars that can be scrapped later if needed. They sometimes look more like a smash up derby than a race. lol.

I never saw the point of 'tuning' a honda...nothing honda makes is made for racing...(the NSX...is a small exception but is a waste of the money) I go to the drag strip every friday night for "high school night' when you have to have a high school ID to get in...I usually place in the top three on street tires...full tank of 87 octane...which puts me in the mid 10s...all for under 2 grand...do you relize how much it would take to get your accord into this range? Ill admit some 'imports' are nice and fast...but honda is not on this list.

Thats your opinion man. My car is half show half race. I seen a honda push out around 800 hp. They're light weight and have nice looking body styles. Hondas are one of the most common imports that gets suped up for street racing. Hondas are for people that have money. We don't care how much it takes to make our cars run 9 and 10's. So you go and stick to your low budget car. I have the money to do it so let it be done. Don't hate cause you don't have the money to do it. One more thing my mommy and daddy don't buy my parts.

You are alot more patient typing then me. Thanks for the standup. 20,000 watts is alot of power but not required for the really, really big numbers. Coupling factor is FAR more effiecent at getting the BIG numbers. I as well competed as an amature. Actually made it to the finals in Canada ()in the 1000+ watt category in 1993. Took sixth against stinken blank cheque writers that didn't even do a lick of work (design or install) of thier gear. I won every competition in Northern Ontario with a 87 Nissan Maxima and $5000 CAD worth of gear ($5000 cost not list, list was over $11,000 CAD). All designed by me, all installed by me. A transport battery, 2 farads of capacitance (sp) and 1/0 power cable still couldn't cut it and that was only 1100 real world watts. (couldn't wind up a Japanse alternator).
NE way I own a '94 Mazda 929 Serena now. Hit 245km/hr (145+mph) just last week (for about 2 seconds before I shut it down, stinken cops). Not bad for a 10 yr old car. Nicest car I ever owned but at $57,206.37 IN 1994 you get alot of car.

I've ridden in a ford that's fun, a Model T (katey's dad restored one a few years ago, he was in the process of restoring a model A before he died this past spring).

Dont knock ford The camero is a mustang clone and a Ford Scout is one hell of a off roading machine in stock form as well as modded out
As for the car It had 2 10 000 watt amps he was toying with if it was real world wattage it would be insane I can tell you though it made my ears litterally bleed the box was built inside of the car because it couldnt fit in otherwise I dont know a whole lot about car audio and i wont claim to i do know my cousin was working with rockford fosgate and a few other's at one time but thats about it
Some times you just gotta know when to hold them and know when to sold them and as much as i'd like a fleet of unique vehicals we just can't afford to keep and maintain them.

Well, I am not about to try to compete with the sports cars and classics, and what not. I drive a 1992 Chevy Astro (that's right, a minivan). I have 4 kids, enough said.
However, I DO have a pretty decent sound system in there for a family vehicle (Crossfire BMF 12's, 6x9's, 61/2's, 51/4's with 1000 watt amp and batt cap for the 12's, 250 watt amp for the 6x9's and a ghost face head unit). Considering this is the same vehicle the whole family rides in, I think it is pretty respectable...of course, the subs get turned off when the babies are in the van!!
I also have a Mercury Mystique and a Ford Taurus. Sold my Volusia last year, but thinking of getting a new bike sometime this year (leaning towards the Honda VTX or Goldwing....can't decide between big power or big comfort!)

Jason,
1250 watts? Doubt it. Look at my post on pg2 I ran 1100 watts and I garentte you don't have the minimum requirements for 1250 watts. I list exotic gear yet others beat it using 4 gage power cables. If you have four kids you are an adult. No excuse for ignorance. Make a claim back it up. The information is readily available. Please reserch your topics. EIA specs are simple to interperet once you know what you are looking for. Ask ANY question and I would be happy to answer it for you honestly. It is an alternate technique to learning... asking questions, self-discovery, decemination, interpretation, etc. All good points to use in life once you have reached the age of clairty. It aviods problems. For example, if I made outragous claims at work, claiming to improve this, cost costs that and produced nothing, well I would be fired. If I made these claims under my business I would be sued for tens upon tens of thousands of dollars personally via tort law. If you don't learn.... just wait what life has instore for you!!

The car was given to me by my uncle..w.ithout an engine...the car had a supercharged 454 in it pervious, my uncle now set that engine into a vega, and gave me the Camaro body. The engine we placed in the camaro was a 350 which we were building for a project we're restoring. But on the 67 impala convert we deceided to keep in the L30 327. And yes, every dime put into the camaro was mine...When my grandfather died in 95 I got 8 grand as did my other brother. Baaa haa haa haa. Got my answer "Class D" otherwise known as magnetic feild. AKA (just in case you don't understand the abreviation means "also known as") Bob Carver design from the '80's. Anything new? Baaa haa haa no. Amagine, I spit this out off the top of my head. I know nothing? Your a fool, I have worked with two major audio componet manufacturers in the past (late '80's when I was about your age). I have forgotten far more than you will ever know about audio reproduction and ALL its attributes. Jason, give me just one postive advantage of running magnetic feild AND (this is the important part which shows you understand the BASICS of audio reproduction) one resulting negative effect with respect to a "Class A" or "Class AB" design. (hint, pls do not embarase yourself if you use class A operation with respect to car audio).
Dave
BTW I am a mechanical engineer, and a pretty darn sharp one. A battle of wits with me is you fighting with a handicap. Stick to the facts and you will recieve equal respect and treatment. I am extremely approchable and will answer any questions. (just like I do at seminars about audio reproduction design, yes I have given lectures on the topic)

Piebald Guy,
What the hell does any of that have to do with anything? You stated that I don't have 1250 watts in my stereo. I have shown that I do. You asked for proof, I have shown it to you. I never claimed that I have a competition system or anything like that (go back and read it, I simply stated what I had).
So, once agian, you are just comming off as a jack *** (who apparently has to constantly remind himself that he is so smart...why is that, anyways?) I couldn't care less about what you do for a living.
I bought my system from Steve Cook, the owner of Audio X. He has been written up in all the major audio magazines. He has won several different championships (something called DB Drag is one thing he competes in). He is a professional, so I think I will trust what he has to say about stereo equipment. I bought a basic system, nothing elaborate, but pretty respectable (especially for a minivan!) I am obviously not "into" audio, never claimed to be (contrary to what you are implying), I just stated what I have in my van.
You attacked me for saying I have 1250 watts. You said "prove it". I did. So, instead you try to attack the quality of my equipment and my intellect. Gee, what a class act you are. (by the way, do you have an inferiority complex? You spend an awful lot of time tooting your own horn, do you realize that?)
By the way, if you want respect, you have to give it! You attacked me in a very disrepectful way with your first post about me. You get what you recieve with me. If you want some respect, quit acting like a jackass and maybe you will get some. Until then, grow up.
