How often do you feed your snakes?

neo's every 4 days on pinks or 5 days on fuzzies, juv's and adults every 7 days, large constrictors feeding on rabbits every 21 days.
Whenever they are hungry... my babies usually eat more frequently than my adults do. Some of my snakes only take a meal once or twice a month, some a couple times a week. Each snake is unique.

Depends on the snake and the time of year. Sometimes 3x per week, sometimes once every 3 months. I could write a book on my stupid feeding schedules.

Ha ha Emily, knowing my writing skills, it would be the most useless, confusing piece of tripe to ever hit the herp book market!! LOL!!!

Agree with Linds. Not all snakes eat the same quantity and of course it's not the same for small snakes who need to feed twice per week.
Most other adult snakes need to feed every 10 or 15 or 20 days.
It all depends...
i feed mine when ever they look hungry and they go hunting for food
Since I keep mostly adult colubrids I feed about once per 14 days. I find if I feed anymore than that, especially the males, they gain too much weight even if I am exercising them.
But all my snakes under a year old or females normally eat when they are hungry....could be every four days, could be every 7.

I try to keep mine on every 5-7 days.
Mostly once, but sometimes twice a week... they always snatch their dinner out of my fingers though. Likely they'd eat more if it was offered

Well, most of my snakes eat every 5-7 days -- my BP on the other hand, eats whenever the hell he feels like it ;) Could be once a week for a while, then nothing for several months, then he'll be hungry again, then... gotta love BPs I tell ya! ;)

Our Hatchling corns feed every 4 days when on pinkies. Just moved up to fuzzies & feed every wk. My Bull was eating 1 Med' rat a week. At the moment, she's on a hunger strike & hasn't even looked at a rat for the last 2wks. Very unusual for her. I was told by someone that maybe she's broody..?!?!?... Do snakes get broody?

8 days or every thursday? lol
as for feeding by hand, i feed my corns and kings by hand, some of the boids but not the BIG boids (That could hurt)
My albino burm gets a 10lb rabbit every 14 days. My borneo gets a jumbo rat once a week. The baby burm is getting two small rats a week. The retic, well I just got her yesterday but she will get two mice a week. The Cal king gets a mouse a week and the rat snake get one pink a week.

usually once a week, though that's not set in stone. if I think they had a light meal the feeding b4 and seem to be looking for food I'll go a bit b4. if they had a good size meal and took a little while to digest I'll wait an extra day or two. I don't think it can be a "set in stone" thing personally. cheers,

I feed them when I want to... and when I have the time. I also go by how they look.
It also depends on how regularily I am obtaining food, and if I'm getting live, or using freezer stock. One of the advantages of keeping serpents is you don't need a strict schedule.
It varies from one year to another, but in general
I feed no more frequently than once a week but rarely less frequently than once a month.
Neonate and females I hopw to breed are always fed more.. I tend to feed male snakes much less than females. Lean and mean males are usually better breeders. Many male snakes go off feed in the breeding season anyway, so you just give their share to the females.
Also alot of my stuff gets brumated,(colubrids and Rosies) so thats a good 3 to 4 months with no food...(I love that)

whenever? if i tryed that with my kings they would get fat quick and i'd never see them as theyed always be sleeping it off with a bloated belly, they would eat at least two mice a day!!!!
At the moment i'm feeding once every 6 days and once every 4-5 days (to my adult cal king) coz hes sheding at least once a month and hes 8 years old and under sized, so i dont want to slow him down just yet.
You'd be amazed at the difference a varied diet can have on a snake, rats, mice, hampsters, and chicks is what i've put his continued growth down to (unless sum 1s giving there mice steriods:confused: )

I look back on my adult corn feeding records and find the largest annual difference in one animals consumption to be 227 grams, or about 10 mice, and that was due to double clutching that year of that animal. Most have only around a 100 gram difference, that usually on the increase from the extra 2Xmouse feedings. Being on a strict budget and buying bulk frozen the shipping costs could skyrocket out of my available funds if I needed to make an extra order. Regular feeding schedules get knocked about a bit with sheds, brumation, and sex but are pretty good, I can look at the average 1-2 yo corns records and judge what a neo will need for it's second years diet and plan that into my feeder budget. There is enough slack to make adjustments, but knowing 90% of your animals get fed every Saturday like clockwork is a mental saver.
Yes Sapphire, by hand. My mexmex is very laid back (to attach a mood to a snake lol). He never even lunges, he just kind of tongue flicks then envelopes. In fact he'll even eat while hanging from my fingers (not that I do that any more, I like to let him eat undisturbed)
