damn man, they costs so much! i want one but damn, 1500 at my local reptile shop. That'll cost me an arm or a leg. I'd rather spend 1500 on a new PC or soup up my current one.

One of what? You didn't say what it is you are talking about, LOL

Oh, duh... you mean GTP's. Not everyone looks to see what forum they are in when linking from the front page.... ;)

I would literally kill for a nice GTP, the lowest I've seen one is the post Trace just made for 800$, thats a good price, but like I said, that's the lowest I've ever seen.

It's not that I need money, it's that everybody else needs money.

GTPs bred and hatched are much better than the ones from pet shops. get one from a private breeder and you will get a better animal at a better price!
There are a few guys out there with babies, a good friend of mine in T.O. has one for sale fat and healthy. Find Zappaguy and email him,you won't be disapointed.

its NOT just PET SHOP!!!! its a reptile shop. Reptile shops i go to they breed their own snakes. I'd say they're as good professionals as they get, besides the stupid cashiers and cleaners.

LOL What "professional" reptile shop are you talking about? I think I know of three in all of Canada that sell clean stuff.

LOL... I think you have been grossly misinformed if your local reptile shop is breeding their own GTP. There are very few people breeding these, even less successfully in Canada. Most are still imported babies. This is part of the reason these animals are so high in price. They are by no means mass produced like balls or corns, and they are in demand. Supply and demand... its what controls the price. If you put years and years in to trying to breed your GTP, and ifnally had some sucess, hatching maybe 10% of the clutch, but still doing it... would you want to be selling your captive bred gems for $200 even though you know you deserve more, and can easily get more? If you feel its too high a price, then go buy your PC ;)

;) got a new one this afternoon. its a souped up P4 3.5gigz, 2gig DDR RAM, HD PC 200GB 7200RPM w/ 8MB CACHE all in a MB ASUS P4C800-DX mother board...

it took quite awhile to decide. btw this PC costed me 3000+ ouch... i've sold some systems so that maybe in a couple of weeks i can get a GTP. Never knew it took that much effort to breed GTP. See this is where the cloning should kick in! Seriously it would be a great idea i'd say. make'em don't breed'em

No, actually, this is where knowledge of the snake would come in. GTP's are NOT hard to breed. They breed like Carpets, because well, they are carpets! The hard part is hatching the eggs. So if you were to clone it, you would still have to hatch a bunch of cloned eggs!!!!

So remind me of how cloning is going to help bring down the prices of GTP's in Canada??

dude, i still dont understand this cloning argument....why would you want to make clones of a snake?
stickly to bring down price?
thats atrocious!!!!!

This is a hobby, its very rewarding to breed your own animals.
Why on earth would you want to take that away from the hobby simply to bring down the cost a couple bucks?

Alot of snakes will breed very well in captivity, and the snakes that dont breed so well.....well, thats even more rewarding when you get it done!
I commend the people that put the effort into it and finally succeed.
to take that away and just say "screw it, its easier to make clones" leaves a very uneasy feeling in my stomach about the future!
