im using a 40 gallon tank and in that tank i use a big container for the water. All this time i found out that he's never used it. today i looked at him, i got that feeling that he was really thirsty, he looked dehidrated(sp?). I found my old lizard's drinking bowl cleaned it and placed it beside my BCI's hide, he came out and drank for 5 minutes.

did you ever show him the water? Place him in there or anything? Mist him down? Anything at all? Is the water container clear? If it is try a dark colored container.....And please don't take offence....but you just noticed this? I do a visual check on both my snakes everynight......Please don't take offence......
Is he a baby? If so, it sounds like he isn't secure enough to use the entire part of the tank. Is it very heavily planted with decorations, plant-type stuff, etc? Try placing several water conatiners around the tank, that will also help to use up some space ;)

I use a large clear rectangular Tupperware container to water my BCI... Invictus showed him where it was by placing him near it, and he's found it with no trouble ever since. I'm not entirely sure why your boa wasn't drinking all this time...it may be that he was too insecure to explore that area of the tank at the time, or, for some reason he didn't clue in due to the type of water dish? I agree with Linds, placing multiple water dishes in his terrarium will give him more options, and he will most likely find his source easily and take advantage of it. :)

yea, hes a month old and hes in a 40 gallon, which is heavily decorated. With a red coloured tub. I'm assuming he's feeling insecure. This is my first BCI and i'm not too sure if BCI's are like this but mine never comes out of his hide no more, only when i bring a meal in. How ever, he does it eat it and seems fine now. I've placed that new water bowl by his hide, dont think he'll miss it this time. I just feel a bit awful to know he didn't relize there was water on the other side...

i just thought it was obviouse enough that there was water there. Never had a problem in years with my colubrids, nor does my BP have any problems. I'm having a hard time switching this lil guy to rats. Damn he's tougher than most BPs. And here i thought if i could easily work with BP's BCi's would be a snap... Oh was i wrong.
