I was browsing thru their web site, www.cites.org, and it stated that all phelsuma were app 2. I could have sworn they were moved to app 1, or at least a few speceis, like standing's. Whats the scoop? I'm really confused...

They might be slated to move to app 1... with international laws there is almost always a transitionary period (I deal with laws and standards every day at work).

They were likely approved to be app 1 as of a certain date.

If I was you I would call a CITES official to make sure (their Canadian office is listed on the site)

Kyle, what is your concern with Standingi?
They are still appendix 2 and one of the most robust survivable Phelsuma species on the planet.
You know the damn things are free ranging in my house now... I dont feed or water them, but one was on the TV the other night...literally
Fantastic easy geckos... a thrill to co-habitate with..If they would only stop stealing my playboy from the washroom.(;o)

LOL! to much info.

I wasn't concerned, i was informed that they were all put into CITES 1, by many people. I'm glad to hear that, now i can get rolling on getting some up. I was wondering if maybe the web site was not up to date or something. Either way i'll still give them a shout. Thanks for the input, well not all the input :D

Why would CITES matter Kyle? Surely there's a TON available in Canada? It wouldn't really be worth importing any from the US.

Yeah, Kyle you might not be understanding that CITES effects international trade only. (import and export)
There are lots of Standingi(and other Phelsuma)
here in Canada, and most have legal origins that go back many years.
Buy Canadian bred ones and you wont have to worry about CITES.

Its friend of mine, he is getting some klemeri and "blue" standings, unrelated (which i of course will probably also get). I haven't been able to find any neons in canada, and havn't seen any blue standings either. Correct me if im wrong! It would only be easier :) For now its planned to pick some up in Oct, near seattle.
