I contacted someone off of the classifieds about some feeders they were selling. After a few days we had everything worked out so I sent $60 to him by money order. That was August 1st. I sent him several e-mails asking what was up and I haven't heard back from him at all. I don't know what to do, he sounded like an honest guy from the e-mails we had. Tomorrow I am going to check with the reciept if he has cashed the cheque yet. What should I do if he has?
Thanks for any help, I'm getting pretty frustrated.

I'm not sure if it would be possible but if you could get his phone number and give him a call. I've been in the same place as you before.

12 days is a huge delay.

Let us at least know the name..

Where did you hear from that person ?

hopefully you used a postal money order, contact the post office to report fraud and ask for advise. If not a postal, contact the company and do the same as well as reporting the fraud to the local cops and saying the person is a thief to everyone you can. Just be sure there is no mistake, hard to take things back if the feeders show up in a week.

I tried to find the phone number at canada411.ca but it said it was either unlisted or didn't exsist. I don't know if I'm allowed to put the name on here, I don't want the website sued or anything. I did use postal money order. I could do what you said reverendsterlin, but I want to make sure the guy isn't just on vacation or something before I do it. How long do you think I should give him to reply? Oh yea, the classified was posted here.
Thanks for the help,
Adam

if he had the time to cash it (ask for the date it was cashed), he had the time to send the order IMNSHO.

It's difficult to really do anything, theres so many loop holes to get people out of trouble when commiting fraud for low amounts of money such as in your case..... Its unfortunate, but pretty sad someone would con another person out of 60$.... Were not talking big money here. Good luck with everything.

Well if he screwed you Let us know and he probably won't do one piece of busniess on here again.

Word of mouth is the best form of advertising it is also the biggest killer of a busniess. Because if he has screwed you then I sure as hell won't deal with him & I bet no one here will either.

Well, I found out today that I can see if the cheque was cashed only after a month from when I sent it :( Which is a pretty stupid rule if you ask me. I sent him an e-mail saying either send back the money or the chicks, and reply by the end of next week or I will take further actions. Thanks for the help everybody!

I'm not too sure wether your bank does this or not, but, mine does. If you can remember the name, date, cheque number and amount, you can get the bank to place a "Stop Payment" on it. That way, if the guy tries to cash it, he won't be able to pull any money at all. In any event, contact you bank and see if they have that option available to you.

Good news! He just called me and said that his modem was down so he wasn't able to get on. He said he would send back the money order if I wanted it back or he could send the feeders when they get the right size (just a week or two). I'm gonna wait for the feeders. Thanks for the help everyone! Guess I didn't need it after all :D

I would have thought that if he was advertising feeders for sale, that he would have them ready at the right size, not making you wait til they are the right size.
If you sent the money nearly 2 weeks ago then you have to wait another week or so, it sounds a bit of long wait to me!!

Hello everyone, my name is Johnny, and I am the person that is being discussed here. When I first placed the ad I didn't think that I would get so many responses and orders placed so I didn't have a big stockpile of feeders. Since Adam wants 3 week and 5 week old feeders, I have to wait for them to grow. As far as my modem going down and the long delay, I can only blame myself for that. I had to order one from Future Shop since I run XP, and it was back ordered. By the way, my phone number is posted on my ad, and I am the one who contacted Adam by phone when I recieved his money order. I didn't even know that he had sent it until I recieved it. Anyways, I'm not a crook, and I didn't scam anyone, I just f*****d up a little. I hope that everyone here can forgive me for my obvious dumbassesdness!!! LOL See ya, Johnny.

Adam,

I've seen chicks in Co-Op farm supply stores in NB. Couldn't you get them there, or in NS for that matter? Seems like the maratimes are rules enough that you shouldn't have to get chicks from the big city. Then again these could be some kinda of specialty chicks or something I don't know.
Just a thought,
Trevor

Thanks for the kind words and for your understanding, Johnny.

Trevor, I figured these would be better quality since they were bred and fed for the purpose. The ones at farm stores are probably fed stuff to make them grow quicker and be fatter. Plus John is growing them free-range which is better for the chickens themselves.
