Very cute!!! Is she a real dwarf? I've seen them mentioned in books but never seen any for sale.

As far as I know she is a real dwarf.....shes not a Rankin's or Lawson's Dragon though, they are the true dwarves.......but instead she is a dwarf P. Vitticeps......she was born last month and is 1/2 the size of all her clutchmates, which I saw when I bought her. The breeder I bought her from has a good reputation for integrity and I don't think would BS me.
I've never heard of a dwarf P. vitticeps. Is she just the runt of the clutch or were one of the parents unusually small? I apologise if I sound like I'm trying to discredit anyone, I'm not, I'm just curious. Bottom line - they're cute at any size. Enjoy her and keep us posted on her size :-)

I agree with Pia, probably a runt rather than a "dwarf" beardie. Very cute non-the-less. Feed that little guy a good healthy diet and he should hit a growth spurt. A vet visit and/or fecal test would be a good idea too.
Real dwarfs are a separate species, one of the two true desert beardies, the Pogona minor or dwarf bearded dragon. The other true desert beardie is the Pogona minima, or western bearded dragon. Both of these guys have their home turf in Western Australia, in and around the Great Sandy Desert.
Vitticeps are semi-arid animals that have much larger bodies and a higher need for water.
That little cutiepie looks all vitti to me.

I guess she is just a runt then, but I love her nontheless.
That's the way!! Good things come in small packages :-)
